Abby Echiverri (@echiverri) joins the Patterns of Perception imprint with Deformation, a diverse collection of playfully psychedelic techno tracks infused with a radiant cosmic energy.

Produced in 2021-22, Abby drew inspiration from the captivating physics simulations her partner was working on at the time, ultimately imbuing the music with an ethereal atmosphere that permeates the entire EP, and from which the tracks derive their names.

PTN03 presents a cohesive yet diverse collection of tracks, blending psychedelic energy with delicate and profound moments. Abby's music carries an almost hopeful quality, with drum programming that leans towards groove and shuffle, and the incorporation of diminished chords and progressions that pose questions to the listener.

Deformation is an intricate record that showcases Abby Echiverri's distinctive, three-dimensional approach to techno: one that never feels oppressive, but calls to mind a sense of exploration and freedom.

Re:Conceive 2 is a fundraising compilation of cutting-edge electronic music from artists based in, and orbiting around Montréal. It will activate its broad stylistic range into social action by donating all net profits to The Native Women’s Shelter of Montréal and Just Solutions, a pro bono refugee legal clinic. Contributing artists range from world-renowned to best-kept secrets. Opening with an orchestral bang, a long and hot fire of tracks 2–17 then burns out into the steam of tracks 18–23, before being capped by a chapter of amorphous and watery sound baths. The dance floor is almost always present: at times practically; at times abstracted and imagined; at other times very, very far away. The through line of the album is that of Montréal, where we lay our scene. It is the sound of this time, in this place. 
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Re:Conceive is a music and social initiative which releases compilation albums. The goals are twofold: to present high calibre electronic music from Montréal, and use the proceeds of its sale to support vital social initiatives. Curated more along zonal lines than aesthetic ones, each edition attempts to highlight a selection of the city’s movers and shakers in electronic music. The first edition raised over $1,300 and received support from Resident Advisor, Bandcamp editorial, Mes enceintes font défaut, Music Is My Sanctuary, Exclaim! and Also Cool Mag.

Laima Adelaide’s musical creations draw inspiration from the organic elements of water and air,  and are transformed into profound techno compositions of the deeper kind. And hence it's no surprise that the Spanish deep techno label Hypnotic Motion is a perfect home for her creations. “For a Time” stands as a compelling deep techno EP, with 4 tracks exhibiting versatility across a variety of environments.

Presented here is the title track from the four-piece EP, where “For a Time” unfurls gradually into a delicate dancefloor masterpiece. Its spellbinding synths create a whimsical atmosphere and inducing a floating sensation that certainly sends warm shivers down the spine. This composition is a testament to Laima’s roots in classical studies, as her skillful orchestration comes to the forefront.

One of Laima’s distinct strengths lies in her ability to avoid conflating power with force, opting instead for a patient and subtle buildup. Through a nuanced treatment of drums and the emergence of translucent sounds, she crafts a track that still resonates powerfully on the dance floor, proving that impact doesn’t demand exuberance. ” For a time” is for the dreamers and contemplators on the dancefloor and hold them in warm, sublime embrace.

The name consists of four Chinese characters, each of which describes the sound of water flowing.
Waveforms can be the pieces of music that make up music, but they can also be how water appears to your vision.
