Our first premiere of the week comes from French techno producer, Geerson. Geerson, has been causing a quite stir in the techno scene with his straight forward driving techno sound on labels such as Ismus, Arts and Outworld. His new EP on Moments In Time follows suit, as he provides a 4 track releases of powerful yet melodic driving techno.

Moments In Time which has been a stand out label since its inception in 2020 with releases from Hadone, Chlär, NTBR, Balrog, Rudosa and more. For their 9th release they return with relentless French producer, Geerson. Geerson makes his debut on the label with the ‘Undoing Time EP’ featuring 3 originals and a remix from long-time collaborator, Blicz.

The Frenchman shot to fame back in 2019 with the inclusion of his track
‘Eleven Roses’ on Amelie Lens’ Fabric Presents mix, and has gone on to sign music to some of techno busiest labels. As a resident of Paris-based Xperience Collective, he regularly plays across Europe and beyond.

The track ‘No Limit For My Dream’ powers into life with heavily overdriven kicks and a bassline that compels you to dance! The breakdown midway acts as brief respite before descending once more into dancefloor carnage.

Luke Slater, Dubfire, and The Lady Machine remix Planetary Assault Systems’ ‘Rip The Cut’ on Mote-Evolver this April.

Originally released on Planetary Assault Systems’ 2011 album ‘The Messenger’ on Ostgut Ton, ‘Rip The Cut’ now sees a pair of remixes from Dubfire and The Lady Machine and two new versions from Luke Slater himself for his Mote-Evolver label this April.

Leading the release is Luke Slater’s first remix of the original, titled ‘LS Remix 1’, where grooving, swung percussion meets crunching samples and oscillating bleeps alongside dubbed out vocal FX. SCI + TEC founder Dubfire’s interpretation follows on, which brings squelching synths, rocking drums, and trippy atmospheres to the table.

On the flip, Slater’s second revision kicks off the B-side with a relentless barrage of drum machines, considered distortion, and a hard-hitting arrangement. Following her recent ‘Magnify’ EP on Mote-Evolver, Pornceptual Resident and Unterwegs Records boss The Lady Machine rounds out the EP, flipping ‘Rip The Cut’ into a certified stomper, applying brushes of expertly crafted additional effects and percussion to the original.

Johnny Piras is a DJ/Producer from Sardinia, based in London. He joined Groove Manipulation Recordings in 2018 before establishing his own Tholos Records imprint. His productions and performances have transformed from breakbeat to techno and hard techno, and they are always in constant evolution. Following releases on Expel Your Demons, Divine Intervention, Cause Records and several others, Johnny makes his debut on Rudosa’s Moments In Time imprint with ‘Good Old Days’, featuring respective remixes from fellow Italian Rian Wood and Rudosa.

Kicking things off, the title cut ‘Good Old Days’ lulls you into a sense of ominously downtempo grunge before hurling you face first into an onslaught of pumping hard techno. Explicitly industrial in his approach, flooding the mix with harsh resonance and corrosive frequencies, this driving thrill seeker of a track will have you hot under the collar from the outset.

Rudosa’s remix somehow manages to add more fuel to the fire, slightly cranking up the tempo and injecting a wave of vampirical acid-tinged musicality to the mix. Breakneck rhythms and a reeling vocal hook combine perfectly with an endless tirade of screeching melodic splashes from start to finish here.

‘Rave Genesis’ follows, bringing more hair-raising grooves to the table. Sur-160 bpm ferociousness is the norm across this cut, with rippling cadence and sparsely placed breathers providing an addictive sense of uppers and downers that complement the track’s gritty analogue rave flavours and pounding drums. Rian Wood’s take on ‘Rave Genesis’ comes with a slightly more new-age feel. An electrifying bassline provides the voltage throughout the track, slicing straight through a mix of hammering kicks, flippant lasers, warping vocal loops and sped-up industrial percussion to carve out an endlessly gripping dancefloor bomb.

The EP ends with ‘Stay As You Are’, featuring another impressive free-form intro from Piras. The final dose of in-your-face hard techno cleverly tips its hat to breakbeat/jungle in places whilst delivering another over-worthy display of riveting industrious rawness and subtle musicality.
