Submission for composition portfolio, complete with occasionally shonky Logic X strings. Kind of a nod to those big, knotty singer songwriter orchestral ballads of the mid to late 70s that I admire greatly.

Complicated

Another comp portfolio submission. A complicated bossa nova/MPB-inflected piece that I hope you get something out of. Backing vocals are a bit wonky, but eh; I had to call it quits at some point.

Recorded and mixed by Mark Coughlin, and then unbalanced by my crude last-minute surgery on the lead vox (yeah, they stick out more now - in a kind of spine-bending over-compensatory implant sort of a way).  Ah well, cheers for all your work behind the desk, Mark! This'd sound considerably more like a fart in a dustbin without your contribution.

Failure To Launch

The final, and shortest, submission for this semester's comp portfolio. My attempt to write something shorter and less complicated (hur hur hurs.), with a looser, more spontaneous sound. Many thanks to Karl Rostron who played brushes on a guitar case and Craig Hughes; slide guitar. 

Make This Clear

Just for the hell of it, here's a low rent-dition of that lovable scamp Phil Spector's evergreen 'Da Doo Ron Ron'. Performed at my folks place using my teensy Travelmate guitar and Audacity. Incidentally, was part of a guitar & vox cover EP I made as a Christmas present for my Gran. She didn't like it much.

Been holding back on uploading this track because the ending turned into a bit of a mess, but - FEAR NOT - I have just hacked most of it off! Personal discomfort spared at the expense of compositional strength! ... y-yay?
