Chill

February’s Chilling Moments is another one of my studio mixes created with the hopes of ending up with something greater than the sum of its parts.  The idea being, that through careful track selection and programming (and sometimes editing) the mix attempts to become more than just a collection of tracks by themselves.

In order to do this I don’t concern myself with when the music was released but instead focus on the sound, mood and timelessness of the tracks that I am considering.  As a result you will hear tracks in this mix dating from anywhere from 2009 through to 2016 but hopefully arranged in a way that this fact becomes transparent.

This mix starts out in deep house territory with tracks from Patlac, Brian Cid, Li-Polymer and Hernan Cerbello before transitioning into some deep dark techno from artists such as Silicone Soul, S.K.A.M. and DKA before finally finishing off with some fairly classic Sasha.

Ultimately I am not the judge on whether I have been successful in my endeavour so I will leave it to you, the listener, to be the judge.  Either way, I hope you enjoy the 60 minutes journey.

Guy J - John Digweed's Transitions Guest mix 18.01.13

For this instalment of Chilling Moments I decided to make a slightly longer mix for my journey back and forth to Halifax.  This is a mix of deep (and sometimes dark) mesmeric house tunes I arranged for the drive.

Sean Keating - Chilling Moments April 2013 Part 2

Ok, so this is attempt two at uploading my May 2013 edition of Chilling Moments.  I went back to the drawing board on the intro seeing as how the original use of "Guy J - Twenty 11" on Bedrock Records as an opening track did not pass Soundcloud's copyright check.  I didn't really spend a whole lot of time redoing it as changing it from my original vision has ruined the mix for me somewhat.  So here is what I am calling the "Soundcloud Edition" of my May 2013 Chilling Moments.  Not at all what I wanted to have to do but I still wanted to share the rest of this mix with my soundcloud followers.

As an interesting side note, I have now had two mixes removed from SoundCloud and both times it seems as though it is due solely to the opening track.  I'm not entirely sure if their copyright algorithm can accurately check an entire 2 hour dj mix but my thoughts are that if your mix is going to be pulled from Soundcloud it is likely due to the intro.
