Swedish musician Moonilena has been a familiar face amidst underground circles for several years now having released poignant, emotive, sometimes dance focussed music on the likes of Belters and Studio Barmhus amongst others. In fact she actually recorded a mix for us previously.

However, around a month ago we were prompted to explore her new material by a good friend. Music which is removed from the club and explores the deeper, more pensive, fluid tendencies of her musical persona. Her new album ‘Minnet’ is forthcoming on Moloton and sees the Stockholm based audiology student focus more on the intricacies of sound design as she explores ambient textures across the LP.

So, this mix sits somewhere alongside that – an ode to the influences which have helped formulate a new musical perspective if you will.

Lose yourself this Monday in an array of thoughtful sounds.

There's an old Brian Eno quote that is inevitably referenced when talking about the Velvet Underground - something along the lines of "They only sold 30,000 copies of their first album, but everyone who bought the album started a band". It's slightly inaccurate (they sold a lot more copies), but the message is clear: few bands have had such an outsized, potent, and wide reaching effect on the musicians that followed in their footsteps. 

Their stubborn desire to continually approach songwriting from the left field, and continuous sonic reinvention reverberated for decades, influencing punk, post-punk, art rock, ambient music, even notably influencing real political revolution in Czechoslovakia.

American producer @strategydickow steps up to contribute the 382nd edition of the IA MIX Series delivering a stunning chill-out and downtempo podcast for expansive headphone listening.

Across a 20-plus year career, and as many releases, Paul Dickow operates at the crossroads of ambient, dub, and electronica. His most recent Strategy album, 'The Wet Room', his 20th album to date, was released in November 2023 via Community Library, the label Paul co-runs with David Chandler. It feels both timeless and of its time, fusing elements of climate anxiety with a heady aura of leftfield sonics.

Throughout his discography, Strategy has collaborated with esteemed labels including Kranky, 100% Silk, and Peak Oil, among others, as well as operating his own Community Library imprint, for an output as vast and varied as it is consistently stellar. He's as comfortable crafting hardware-focused, DIY techno as he is spinning long form experimental suites.

Strategy's mix is as wide-ranging, unpredictable, and eclectic as his music, spanning Humpbacks, Seefeel, Laurie Spiegel, and Strategy himself. It's an ideal soundtrack for expansive headphone listening or the strangest, grooviest pool party in the neighbourhood.
