After many months of closure, fate smiled upon us this past New Year’s when Paquita Gordon (Italian vinyl-cognoscente and Terraforma resident) paid us a visit to dust off the cobwebs at Horoom. An avid explorer, in her travels as much as her bringing together of like-minded musicians for experimentations in sound, there’s a freedom in her craft. For this, the last hour of her set, she channels this libertine energy with the type of fun, high-octane amalgam of sounds she’s come to be known for. Philippa Pacho is back on Bassiani airwaves for Podcast 178. The dynamic artist behind positivesource and STHLM Murder Girls knows a thing or two about setting a crowd in motion. Her shapeshifting beats and unmatched energy fast making her a household name far outside her native Sweden and more recent Berlin base. Her residency at Stockholm mainstay Under Bron is about a decade old, but there’s not even so much as a suggestion of hesitancy or weariness in her work, carrying a passion that’s infectious, and as palpable in a club as it is on screen (check out her recent sets on Hör). Her Techno really is powerful stuff, a sustained sonic onslaught, an unyielding beast, hulking and formidable but also smart. For many DJs whose sound is so heavily reliant on bass to carry forth their message, a slip into monotony wouldn’t be entirely unpredictable, but Philippa’s cunning use of supporting effects and melody keeps even a 6 hour journey like this one interesting from start to finish. This up and coming doyenne of loop Techno really is a force like no other.

From legends like Soulwax (as 2manydjs), Matias Aguayo, Jori Hulkkonen, The Hacker, Seth Troxler, and Audion to modern masters like Cora Novoa, Disfreq, Nikki Nair, Fedele, Mathame (and many more), Turbo 25 spans soundscapery from the label’s rich past, rich present, and VR-heavy future. The 10 year celebration continues with a hybrid live recorded set from German dab hand Vril. Much of his work, like the metaphysical and culturally seminal substance from which he took the name, is heavy on duality, hard and gentle, vibrating with machinelike power and shot through with a raw and often tender emotion. It’s a calculation that has yielded some of the most unforgettable sounds of recent times, 2018’s heavy-hitting Anima Mundi or last year’s Animist have lost none of their soul-stirring resonance, and his purist techno reaches far beyond his published work. Live and in flow state, he carries just as strong a charge, a frothing, fulgurant techno that invokes awe and measures in colossal proportions. Leave aside collabs with Rødhåd and Sebastian Mullaert for Circle of Live, though the magic’s there too. It’s an arcane and ghostly sound that burrows into the soul and leaves its mark, and in his scores of fans and 51 toured countries, it has. For Bassiani Podcast 237 the haunting power of his work finds form in 92 minutes of visceral techno that rolls from crystalline form to brooding storm. The sound of a new world dawning just beyond our current horizon.

Eelco has been obsessed with music since a very young age. Like many Techno DJ’s he’s always had an eclectic taste in music that goes from metal to jazz to classical, drum & bass, hip hop, etc. He had an epiphany when he went to his first AWAKENINGS techno party in Amsterdam many years ago. Since then he’s been addicted to this pulsing sound. His favorite styles are Techno and Electro. “The first time I walked into a Warehouse. And FELT that hard Bass, sharp hi-hats, and hypnotizing techno sound, I knew I had come home. 
I want to spread my religious passion for the sounds of proper TECHNO!
