With her latest EP, Special Calibration EP, Rotterdam-based producer Beyun makes her much-anticipated return to the Rotterdam label she founded back in 2019, Vault Wax. Both Beyun and her Vault Wax-cohorts have been releasing music guided by their love of deep, mind-altering acid house with roots in both Detroit and UK House. This EP finds the label boss digging even deep into these sensibilities, delivering 4 multi-layered, cosmic tracks of Detroit and UK-inspired house and electro.
	
Closing track of the EP is the downtempo odyssey, “Central Kinematics”. The track unfurls in a riveting display of lush pads, UK garage-leaning drums, warped acid lines, and chime-like synths. Deep and hypnotic, Beyun displays an uncanny ability to fuse classic elements of Detroit deep house, UK garage, and downtempo with her own unique, experimental sensibilities. Despite its low-key vibe, Beyun maintains just enough tension and forward-momentum throughout the track so it feels like it is continually building right up until the very last, washed-out notes.

The stage is always set for the next phase with Corni’s music, and with his record ‘Cables Wynd House’, a new pattern of his audial language begins to take shape, and its a very beautiful one at that. Continuing on with Corni’s love affair with all things Leith, the title of the EP refers to the iconic ‘Banana Row’ housing estate that towers up within the district of Edinburgh, a brutal and gorgeous structure which binds lateral lines with social interaction and everyday living. Much like the impressive structure it is paying homage to, the record itself is, in our eyes, Corni’s most complete work to date, with his already accomplished sound spread out and explored to its absolute limits on this 4 tracker.

‘Glue City’ evokes the same feelings as the opener, building upon an expertly crafted rhythmic and bass sequences with sublime melodic overtures which once again find a wonderful balance between one another.

Swung glitchy percussion anchors the ethereal melody of Ebaum's Dreamland with some of Julius' hallmark production quirks shining through. Referencing new-found cultures from his Scandinavian and antipodean roots - Sonny paints a picture of seasonal changes in hobbies and activities spent alongside friends. ‘Transient Feeling’, inspired by hiking culture and filled with playful, bouncy pads reminiscent of a hiking rhythm, bounding across beautiful Scandinavian planes. ‘Ejskö’ named after the destination of a Swedish mid-summer holiday with friends, paying tribute to the Swedish tradition of Midsommer, in which they celebrate the sun being at its highest point in the sky.

PREMIERE: Sonny - Transient Feeling (Mandmade Deejay remix) [Northern Underground Records]

Tom Jarmey releases his debut album for Lobster Theremin sub-label Distant Horizons (formally known as Distant Hawaii) with the beautifully serene ‘Amber Glass’ LP. 

On Amber Glass, Jarmey draws on influences from ambient, house, breakbeat and techno, combining dusty drum sequences on top of cosmic synth patterns and classic, warm, tape-driven production. It’s a rare treat in the post-rave, home-listening dance spectrum and showcases a knack for brooding, laid-back grooves as well as a killer melody and rhythm. Chock full of breaks, bubbling electronica, deep diving tones and emotional textures, the album is a glimpse into the work of a rising producer, but one who nonetheless sounds comfortably in their prime.

Jarmey seamlessly blends breathtaking soundscapes, luscious vocals and soaring synth hooks on this debut long play following releases for 13th Hour, Shadow City and R.A.N.D. The LP sets the tone for future excursions on Lobster from the versatile Manchester-based producer. 

Long-time musical collaborator and saxophonist, Ed Hodge, joins Jarmey for a clutch of tracks on this project, with Hodge performing sax on both ‘Bees In Meadow’ and ‘Deeper Pacific’. Amber Glass features the stunning artwork of London based designer CMDP.
