TWR72 joins for DifferentSound Podcast #110.

TWR72 pioneers a forward thinking approach towards electronic music: a fusing and pulsing rhythm with a cutting drive, binding it with a strong signature groove. Amsterdam based, he premiered a collaboration with Truncate in 2014. This was the same year in which Float Records was established that explores the combination of perfection and simplicity shown by both new talented producers as well as renowned artists. Between 2016 and 2020, he had his debut in Techno’s most praised club, Berghain, released the successful EP 'X' on his own label and surprised with the unique series 'ERROR' which all let to touring around Europe and the US. In 2020, TWR72 started his 2nd label for his long love and passion: the Techno era of the late nineties, early twenties. OOM Records brings back that memorable sound with high BPM loop groovers for a new era. Furthermore, a fruitful collaboration with the Amsterdam based party organization Orphic has started. After closing 2020 with a successful EP at close friends label HAYES, TWR72 celebrates 2021 with the 50th release "VOID" on Float Records and his debut on Mindtrip Records. After the summer, his first EP "Venom" on OOM Records is to be released and he will debut on Setaoc Mass' SK_Eleven.

My next guest on Yax Invites is Berlin based artist Nona, who is the co-founder and resident at https://soundcloud.com/re_flect, and is widely known for mixing fast paced techno with elements of hypnotic sounds and pulsating grooves in his sets.

Here's what Nona had to say about the mix:

Since there are no limits to the length of the sets in this wonderful mix series and extended mixes are appreciated, I took this opportunity to record the longest mix ever published by me. Instead of the usual 3 players, this time I played with four and did even more layering and blending of several tracks than normally. 

Because I wanted to tell a kind of developing story, I started fast yet slower than usual and reached my habitual tempo just after 1.5 hours. In addition, this mix contains a track selection that differs more or less clearly from my previous mixes. The focus here lays on a variety of deep, bleeping and hypnotic sounds, atmospheric tracks as well as strongly raw & percussive, driving & minimalist rhythms. Every now and then even a trance or electro gem stands out. The result is a great variety of sounds and rhythms which is almost hardly remarkable due to the length of the mix. 

On top of that, this mix is the first one ever that contains a production of my own! Enjoy!

Trading out hi-velocity wares all set at cranking up the room’s heat two notches up, the Amsterdam-based producer champions a sound fully geared towards shaking dance floors upside-down with its implacable mix of flaring uptempo drives, sleek programming and crisp sound design. Punching in our series with a double hour workout spanning the breadth of his arsenal, from heavy-duty dubs to true-school modular destroyers, TWR72 has us surfing a tsunami of paced-up face-melters and zero-G acrobatics that won’t let loose on you until your batteries have run dry for good. Definitely more physically strenuous than your average routine, expect to be sweating buckets.
