Brazilian-born, Berlin-based DJ and Pornceptual resident The Lady Machine skies in our weekly series with a two-hour barrage of steel and iron grooves geared for hi-intensity rumble both on and off the dance-floor. Setaoc Mass is the Manchester raised/Berlin based moniker behind SK_Eleven and a techno behemoth with the Midas touch. His golden sound is on just about every dancefloor you’d want to visit: thundering 4/4 beasts skilfully interwoven with gauze-like details provided by his earliest passion for Warp-era electronics. This gritty blend of driving techno and cerebral IDM is one that’s high on horsepower: dry, pummelling basslines, intricately layered hi-hats and sparse but gliding notes that add a softer touch. Unsurprisingly, this Setaoc sound has found a legion of loyal fans as well as fellow collaborators with a similar vision, names like Matrixxman and recent podcast guest Yant with which to bat ideas and release some straight-up bangers. For the purists though, Bassiani Podcast 165’s all Sam Coates: this one’s an hour long studio mix packed with fearsome, erratic beats, chopped-up vocals, frenzied loops and adrenaline-fuelled calculations to get those warehouse walls trembling.

Whilst overseeing his own imprint SK_eleven, his releases push a galvanising brand of techno, steeped in a sense of urgency, ever-propulsive with acute detailing and nods to a futuristic space-age. In addition to a debut release on Len Faki’s Figure which has caught the eye of some of the scene’s most respected DJ’s.
