About our Guest:
Hailing from Baltimore, but residing in LA for over 10 years is Body Tools co-founder DJ Economy. As both a producer and DJ, he explores a range of styles while always channeling an ear for percussion, jazzy gritty grooves, the off kilter sounds of IDM, Jungle, Trip-Hop, and Dusty Deep House. Behind the decks he dispenses sets that effortlessly change form while keeping your hips locked to the groove. Across his five releases on Body Tools he has plotted a sound that is raw and fresh with the jagged edges of analog hardware production and always nodding to the warehouses and fields of rave's beginnings.

About the Show:
Body Tools Sessions is a live audio video broadcast that happens on the First Saturday of every month from 1pm to 4pm PST on the VPN network. Each episode features a mix by a Body Tools resident on the first hour and a half, and then a special guest mix is featured on the second hour and a half. Once the stream is finished we always post the videos and audio the following week to our archive on SoundCloud, YouTube, & Vimeo.

There’s something quietly magnetic about Duncan Thomas. A London-based producer, live performer and lifelong digger, his sound sits at the crossroads of warm soul, deep groove and harmonic richness. From his early work with TR Trio and Size 8 to recent solo outings on The Check In and his forthcoming label Slam Duncs, Thomas has steadily carved out a space that favours feeling over formula. Whether behind a keyboard or a pair of decks, he approaches music with a jazz musician’s ear and a selector’s instinct — patient, playful, rooted in depth.

His Phonica Friends & Family mix is a love letter to that ethos. Rather than chasing dancefloor peaks, this is a set built on timelessness — music he wants to return to in ten years and still feel connected to. These are deep, soulful cuts that lean into warmth and atmosphere, curated from both dusty crates and digital rabbit holes. True to form, the mix resists trend in favour of tone, inviting you into a space where melody, memory and movement meet. It’s subtle, emotive, and unmistakably Duncan Thomas.

Includes the label’s first remix: a greeting from sunny Bari to the dance floors by Italian deep house fratello @Nico-Lahs.

“Your Light” reaches back to effgee’s production roots – soulful sampling, dreamy textures and groove-heavy. “Birds” shifts into a fresher club direction, while “Roland Bass” brings together the essentials of his production recipe: analogue synths, sampling, and a punchy kick at the core. fellice 005 is a deeply personal record – both musically and visually.

Definitly one of my favorite rides of the 2025 summer. Not gonna lie, I was quite nervous in the beginning. Tugged in between the trees, good sound, lovely lights and a fantastic group of people standing on the other side of the booth. That felt good and special, and got me a little nervous at the same time. Just had 1,5 hour but managed to squeeze in a good variety of tunes. Started with a gentle touch but realised I needed some more energy and quickly found my way to some more heavier/deeper stuff (or at least heavy for my taste). After that I found a way for some more energetic uplifting rhythms and finally ended it all with a very soft landing.
I think I described it well enough, but if you can think of a better description, I am all ears after you have listened to the mix :)
