With his highly-anticipated fourth solo-LP, “PTSD” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Pharoahe Monch re-emerges with a new concept project which finds the ground-breaking emcee tackling PTSD; a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma. Throughout the duration of the LP, Monch narrates as an independent artist weary from the war against the industry machine and through the struggle of the black male experience in America.
 
Pharoahe Monch has been at the forefront of lyrical innovation for two-decades now.  Not only is he one of Hip-Hop’s preeminent lyricists, crafting intricate rhyme schemes and intelligent raps, but he is also an incisive political and social commentator, using Hip-Hop as a platform for political engagement.

'Rapid Eye Movement' featuring Black Thought of the Roots Crew, is a lyrical barrage worthy of these two titans, as Monch and Black Thought get lucid for a 4-minute exhibition of pure lyricism.  "Rapid Eye Movement" is produced by Marco Polo with scratches by DJ Revolution.

There's a reason why the teacher and student relationship has stood the test of time. It's a bond that has been throughly documented in texts such as Robert Greene's 'Mastery;' from 'The Odyssey' to 'The Karate Kid,' this dynamic has become commonplace in all art forms. Naturally, it would not take long for this relationship to find it's way into the world of Hip-Hop. Between Jay Z and Kanye West, Dr. Dre and Eminem, and Large Professor and Nas, it's no surprise that this model breeds greatness.

While KRS-One and Torae haven't cemented that connection just yet, "Klick Clique" could be the start of something new. Linking the Teacha with Da Young Veteran, the track serves as a reminder that the underground sound is alive and well. If you’re flipping a classic rap sample for a new track, you damn well better do it justice. Well, that’s exactly what we’re getting here on “Panoramic,” the menacing new single from NY duo Dirt Disciples that’ll inspire thoughts about a certain Hip-Hop chef. You have to hand it to one half of this gritty rap tag team, DJ Concept. The Long Island rep provides the listener with a taste of nostalgia while injecting a brooding sensibility via a snarling bassline.

His rhyming collaborator is no slouch either, as Elmira, NY’s Rome Clientel bodies his competition with dead-eyed, no-bullshit bars. And you have to love this callback to pro wrestling’s glory days: “The Tito Santana of rap/ Hop the top turnbuckle, wave my arms, drop kick to the back/ Motherf*ckers.” The New York connection only grows stronger with a guest verse from Coney Island native, Torae. He closes out the track in high fashion, gritting his teeth and spitting bars reminiscent of Jay Z classic, “So Ghetto.”

Dirt Disciples’ The Ambition EP impacts October 9th via Soulspazm. In addition to Torae, the project boasts collaborators such as actor/gifted rapper Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter) and Sacramento indie rap prince, Chuuwee.
