In Utrecht, there used to be a Turkish-friend group which Yank was also a part of. Whenever there was a gathering with drinks and emotions, friends would ask Yank to play his songs, and everyone would sing along as one mouth having memorized the lyrics to all of them. Also, he is like a discount Joaquin Phoenix with Eddie Vedder's voice.

Yank is an Utrecht-based genre-bending songwriter, multi-instrumentalist singer, and improviser from Istanbul.

When I invited Bintang, I couldn't expect what he will bring as an instrument, and honestly, I don't remember now. I just knew that whatever he brings he will make them sing in such a way that you know it's him playing. Cheers Baba!

For re-childing's 5th edition, Lotte Sarembe was the guest of Ege Şahin on RadioWorm.

After our first set, in which Lotte played her wine glass bowls, and sang with the softest silk blanket-like voice, I asked her what the lyrics were about. And she told me that, on the way, she saw a bird alone on the electric wires, and when playing together with my all-capable synth, she felt a little powerless like that bird and that's what the lyrics were about. Imagine carrying 7-9 wine glasses in luggage, with a big-ass loop station and microphones for a voluntary radio show from Amsterdam to Rotterdam on a train, and feeling like this. I have no words, she is amazing.

Lotte Sarembe is an Amsterdam-based singer, wineglass player, and songwriter. Her music is often perceived as angelic, warm, and evoking stillness.

Fanni, one of the liveliest souls, joined the show very spontaneously on a visit from Budapest, with a backpack full of regional woodwind instruments. Her loving energy and openness are always there.

Fanni Zahar is a Budapest-based flute player and multi-instrumentalist who is proficient in a number of genres including jazz, afrobeat, and Central European folk.

I met Josué as my improvisation teacher at the school and then become friends later on. He always facilitated a safe room for freedom and critical creative thinking. We had a sincere conversation about being half-human as a non-EU citizen in the Netherlands.

We were the only students at Bachelor of Jazz Composition in our year at Codarts yet we never played together in that 4 years until then! I hoped Max would bring his bass clarinet yet he brought a baritone saxophone he just got his hands on which was lit!, and he played two soprano clarinets at the same time..

For re-childing's 9th edition, Christine Cornwell was the guest of Ege Şahin on RadioWorm.

On a super cold late-November Dutch night, Chrissy brought her violin, a meditation bowl, and the warmest of hearts. Until her, I always only played with a digital synth called Aalto in all the sessions but the talk with her convinced me to do something else with loopers and found objects in the 2nd set for which I'm grateful for. It was a loveful Zen ending that kept us warm at cold.

Christine Cornwell is a producer, violinist, improviser, and collectively-minded creator with a diverse history of projects in the UK & The Netherlands. She welcomes new connections with collectives and initiatives that are searching for sustainable practices and connections to the local and artistic communities.

Lisa took this pre-show pic on the Expanded Radio edition, for which we had an alto glockenspiel, midi keyboards with laptops, and cute stories. I want to thank Lisa's heart-hugging vocal material and talent outpouring existence.

Lisa and the F.I.X. is a bard, pop star, and musician who weaves raw stories together with delicate songs. She’s the alter ego of the hyper-productive composer Luke Deane (UK 1990), now based in the Netherlands.

For re-childing's 11th edition, Lucija Gregov was the guest of Ege Şahin on RadioWorm. 

Lucija came with her cello, red clogs, and loving attitude. She was the only person whom I didn't know from before yet we had the most sincere, funniest, hilarious conversation which is missing because I forgot to press record... We then ate hummus outside.

(unfortunately, the recording is only an hour long, that's because I forgot to record our hilarious conversation in which we talked about music listening, guilty pleasures, educational background, food, and so on... my apologies)

Lucija Gregov is a cellist, improviser and sound artist whose work describes and explores new sonic landscapes. Through many interdisciplinary collaborations, she seeks to push the boundaries of traditional cello playing which further extend her interpretation, technique and ideas. She has been developing projects and researching in the field of classical music, electro acoustic music, noise, improvisation, experimental music, radio and sound art, as well as community art.
