This is not a recording of the best party I was ever part of; it is just a tribute - 25 years ago the University of Western Australia's electronic music appreciation society (emas) held the elemental party at Asia Australia House in Northbridge on the evening of Good Friday and about 700 people descended on the venue.  

This music is representative of the selections played in the main room - a full chillout room was also provided (check Pyrene https://pyrene-aus.bandcamp.com/; HP Hovercraft https://soundcloud.com/hp-hovercraft and Audio Cephlon https://kahvicollective.bandcamp.com/album/oumuamua-ep) for emas alumni still chilling!)

Times were different; bpms rarely dropped below 140 and the $2 Jolt Cola powered crowd made the sprung ballroom floors bounce!  You could literally stand still and be propelled skyward by the energy of the crowd.  We liked our music maximal, harmonic, trancey, acidic and multilayered; every DJ was a gem; the now famous Jase from Outta Space (https://soundcloud.com/jasefos) and NU23 played live.  Everyone was a volunteer and the place burst with positive energy, Props to Ben, Justin, Clare and all of the 1998 crew who made an old man (almost 23 at the time!) very proud on the day; still brings a gleam to my eye. 

I've tried to select some tunes off the cuff from the past 25 years (some of which like Fuel On and My Time is Yours were played back then) that match that kind of energy; no sync button was hurt in this recording and the decks were nudged at least once but a lot of fun was had so I hope you forgive the rough edges. emas 25th anniversary tribute mix

emas 25th anniversary tribute to elemental party

OK, another "on the fly" mix, or the first 40 or so minutes of it anyway; mixed on World Goth Day at home; this time with the simple idea of starting with Sensient's 2006 "Sona Arome" (one of my favourite ever tunes) and seeing where the ascending keys took me.  

Love the Australian psychedelic progressive and techno sound; so many amazing sounds within it; so plenty of Zenon records represented (and thus the name of the set!).  No sync buttons harmed during the production so its loosey goosey; I thrash a few tunes with FX but mainly just two channels as the tunes are maximal and interesting enough!  Headphones recommended and I hope you enjoy.  

The beautiful artwork is by Emma Pemberton using AI; encountered it on the AI Art Universe facebook art page and she has kindly let me use it for this mix. Normally I try and mix in short doses... this is a heartfelt 2 hour + mix;  hoping you can feel the hope and love.  All off the cuff, no sync button so loosey goosey.

I mix from prog house through psytech to techno to breaks then to old school goa (really enjoyed that bit!) to new school goa to psy and trundle thereabouts.  Even managed to get some Bicep in there. Its not perfect.  Neither am I.  

You should see how I wrap presents.  😊

I can report its pretty good for loading up "Dazed and Confused" and watching with the subtitles on with a few drinks.  Merry Christmas.
