In 2020, @joeleel (Korean-Canadian music performer, DJ, producer, and label manager) was diagnosed with a heart disease called atrial fibrillation (A-fib) — known to cause rapid heart palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, and a heart rate of 203 bpm (faster than trance).

This week's TANK mix, an instrumental offering from London-based producer CAJM, is a study in controlled cacophony. Inspired by the rhythmic patterns of an embroidery machine, CAJM's soundscapes span the last century of experimental music production, yet the result is claustrophobic in a decidedly 21st-century way. There is respite in occasional pockets of detuned, Satie-esque piano, yet the overarching mood is deliciously dense and unsettling. CAJM is a member of the synth-punk outfit Powerplant and has worked with like-minded wunderkinds Coby Sey and Dean Blunt.

Into The Depths, a compilation album by Austrian artist Egon Thuile was inspired by a fascination of video gaming and his introduction to electronic music making. The idea behind playing the album as a Role Play Game comes from Egon's approach to music. Elliut is a fantasy character placed in a real life open world, a game named as the album.

Similar to a level in a video game, each song represents a new level on the album. Into the Depths is a tribute to an invisible connection recorded over a three year period using a Yamaha FX49 synthesizer, an android phone synthesizer app and home studio audio recordings.
