As we bid farewell to this year and welcome the new one, I've got a special treat for you: a mix I recorded last summer at Las Dalias in Ibiza. It's a magical evening moment that I want to share with you, to help you groove smoothly into the new year.

Those nights at Las Dalias and Akasha were legendary, and those of you who were there know exactly what I'm talking about. "I’m excited to share this special mix, recorded during the amazing La Feria On Tour at Centro Parque in Santiago, this past February. It was the very first time I felt truly free to play techno in Chile, a genre at the core of my artistry, and I enjoyed the beautiful synergy I had with the crowd that night whose thirst for this special genre was on full display! As we count down to this milestone for EG1K, I hope this mix brings back fond memories for those who were there and gives a taste of the experience to those who couldn't be present. at dawn on Sunday, Alfonso treated us to 4 hours of music, mingling dub techno and minimal, all slowed down and jammed on vinyl.

"When I arrived at the stage, the sun hadn't risen yet. Mine was the first performance on @klapenunsen stage, and the music from the other stage was still playing in the background. It was a cold morning, and I thought there wouldn't be many people at the beginning, but It was a pleasant surprise when, after the main stage last performance ended, a large crowd gathered and filled the stage even before my music started. 

I performed a minimal dubby techno set, playing both current tracks and classics of the genre. Although I didn’t feel entirely comfortable in the beginning of the set, when I saw people dancing with smiles on their faces, it all made sense. It was a very special moment, and later, when the set ended, it was incredible to have people coming up to talk to me, excited about the performance. It was beautiful preparing a set like this and seeing how the crowd responded to the vibe while the sun rose in that wonderful landscape."

Currently amassing 43 years of career (at the age of 59), he embodies the pure and timeless essence of the art of DJing, defending and keeping vinyl culture alive and always reinforcing the importance of researching music beyond the obvious, because only then is it possible to tell different and exciting stories with each new performance that can last for 2 or even 12 hours.

“This mix is inspired by a touch more Afro than I usually include in my sets, but it still has a distinct “Meyer” feel, as many of the tracks feature the typical clave pattern that’s present in most of my work. I’ve been incorporating Afro elements into my sets for over 10 years, though it’s never the only style I play. I enjoy blending different genres because it’s more creatively challenging.

A friend once told me, “You play so many different genres in one set, but it always sounds like you.” I think that’s a great compliment. For this set, I leaned more on the classic Meyer sound to maintain the flow. Hope you enjoy it!”
