There was a beautiful, cinematic sound emerging from behind closed doors. It danced and echoed in the hallway as smoke billowed softly from beneath the door which rattled under the weight of a large drum upon the other side.

This was studio pleasure at its very best – a unique moment in time in which creation and magic danced in the air as wild sounds reverberated and bounced between the walls.

Soon it would only be a distant memory, a flickering memory of a record long ago.

Now here is something special – a collaborative release between three heavyweight producers in the form of Plead, Slyngshot and Neewt. The three of them hold no punches drawing for weird, textural sounds with nods to dub, house, techno and beyond. It’s a wonderful release from the OK Spirit camp and one which comes highly recommended from us.

namastrange is an oakland based producer & DJ who focuses on emotive dance music. While having 39 self-releases, she’s also released music on a variety of labels, including Fantastic Planet with her collaborator, pletnev —  with much more planned in the coming year. With her name on upcoming bills with Perfect Dark and Monarch, she aims to grow more connected to the Bay Area club scene. 

“this mix is a rare but meaningful one for me! i usually do a lot of upbeat proggy stuff when i’m playing out, but i listen to a lot of atmospheric + deep techno in my free time and the hypnotic / dubby qualities make it into the music i make as well. it was cool to explore this darker more pensive sound in the december night time :) i recorded this on a full moon weekend so it def takes some influence from some amazing outdoor late night sets i've heard in the last few years. this is probably more for moody home listening, but a good sub might still help ~~~~”
