After countless hours of GTA V during the holidays, I stumbled upon an Indaba Music remix contest for The Chain Gang of 1974's "Sleepwalking". I downloaded the stems and this is what came out. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did making it!

The Atish experience: deep, emotive, ecstatic. It is more than the beautiful sounds emanating from the speakers, though, it is also the man behind the decks: warm, compassionate, inviting. In an age of oversized DJ egos there is still an artist who is devoted to connecting with his audience, a humble soul with a pure passion for music. This is Atish.

Atish occupies a rare space in dance music. At a time when most DJs rise to prominence primarily through their work as producers, Atish’s success has been realized through his total devotion to the art of DJing. What began at a small gig back in 2010 in San Francisco has since flowered into a magical journey around the world at clubs, festivals, and afterhours on six of the seven continents. 

His success comes as no surprise to anyone who has seen Atish DJ live or listened to one of his mixes. With a combination of sophistication and accessibility, his sets are expressive journeys in melodic deep house that create lasting emotional experiences for the listener. Atish is also a natural performer, engaging the crowd with a mixture of charisma and charm. He’s been known to don costumes and wigs when he spins, a playfulness that balances the strict discipline and obsessiveness he has for DJing.

Atish’s natural talent and passion for music haven’t gone unnoticed. Lee Burridge asked Atish to play on the legendary Robot Heart bus sound system at Burning Man in 2011, and Atish has been invited back every year since. He’s also been honored to open for or tag with some of the most respected names in dance music including John Digweed, Danny Howells, Guy Gerber, M.A.N.D.Y., and Tyrant. Currently, Atish is on Listed Bookings’ roster, and he is a resident at Listed’s monthly party, Play, at San Francisco’s world-renowned club, The Endup. He‘s also a resident of the Desert Hearts family, a West Coast collaborative who put on the highly respected semi-annual Desert Hearts festival.

Atish has also developed a strong online presence through Soundcloud. A prolific mixer, Atish produces a monthly podcast series that has allowed him to express a deeper, moodier sound. Scrolling through his extensive catalog of mixes, one can hear an artist passionate about music and dedicated to the perfection of his craft. Having achieved so much in such a short amount of time, the dance music community is excited to see how far he can go.

Mit ihren Ohne Worte Partys in München, ihren Sets beim Plötzlich Am Meer und beim Off-Sonar, sowie mit ihren Veröffentlichungen auf Monaberry und URSL - die Jungs sind gerade dabei sich einen Namen zu machen. Wie und wann seid ihr zur Elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Innellea gibt es nun seit 2,5 Jahren. Wir sind beide davor schon im Ohne-Worte-Kollektiv gewesen, mit dem wir seit einigen Jahren Parties machen und da war es nur eine Frage der Zeit bis wir beide selbst in die Hand genommen haben Musik zu machen. 

Welche Musikalischen Momente sind euch besonders in Erinnerung geblieben?

Da gibt es einige... Besonders in Erinnerung ist uns auf jeden Fall das Plötzlich am Meer letzten Jahres. Erst überraschte uns die Nachricht auf der „Forkel-Gork-Stage“ spielen zu dürfen und dann war es vor Ort einfach überwältigend auf so einer Bühne vor so vielen Menschen zu stehen. 

Wo konnte man euch bisher antreffen?

In Deutschland haben wir bisher hier und dort gespielt, in Berlin es ins Kater und Sisyphos geschafft, aber auch auf unsere außereuropäischen Gigs in Georgien und Indien schauen wir stolz zurück.  

Gibt es Zukunftspläne?

Unser Releaseplan ist voll: ein Remix für Bebetta auf Monaberry, eine EP auf URSL, ein Track auf der Upon.You-Compilation im Herbst und einige Tage im Studio warten.

Dear Spirit Train Family,
After spending months of preparation for AfrikaBurn, the big day had come, I was gonna play my first gig on The Spirit Train. It was Monday evening and we had just finished three intense and fun days of building our own stage and camp. Not that many people had arrived yet but all my camp buddies showed up to support me. I needed that cause I was quite nervous in front of such a big crowd. The Spirit Train crew also boosted my confidence. After the first track I ended up in a flow and before I knew my set was over. So many dancing burners I saw, it was beautiful and I finally felt back home again. This was the start of what was going to be one of the best weeks of our lives.

Unsere Nummer 174 kommt dieses Mal von einem Künstler denn ich innerhalb kürzester Zeit zu einen meiner besten Freunde zähle … auch wenn wir uns nicht häufig sehen … aber wenn ist es immer eine tolle Zeit mit super Gesprächen. Darüber hinaus hat mich natürlich seine Musik direkt von Anfang an begeistert. Wie kein anderer versteht es David aus verschiedenen Tracks, Stilen und seinen eigenen Gefühlen und Gedanken eine Geschichte zu erzählen. 

Auch beim Produzieren hat sich David innerhalb kürzester Zeit einen Namen erarbeitet … eben auch durch seine Zielstrebigkeit und dem Quäntchen Perfektionismus haha. Mit seinem sehr guten Freunden aus Jugendtagen Jonas Saalbach hat er dann auch dieses Jahr das Label Radikon gegründet … das mit ihrer Künstlerauswahl mehr als überzeugt. 

Für den Podcast für unsere Reihe hat sich David schon seit einem halben Jahr beschäftigt und es ist wieder einmal eine wunderbar runde Geschichte dabei rausgekommen. Es ist ein sehr sehr emotionales Set geworden … ich kenne viele seiner Sets … gerade auch aus seiner „Rebirth of spring“ Reihe … aber ich würde mal behaupten das ist sein bester Podcast bisher. 

Lieber David … tausend Dank für deine grenzenlose Leidenschaft für die Musik … wir sind überwältigt von diesen grandiosen 1,5 Stunden. Und nun liebe Hörer, wünsch ich euch ganz viel Freude mit unserer Nummer 174 und Guzy  ❤❤❤

As an Australian, I was honored to join forces with The Gardens of Babylon family at my favorite Manhattan bar Amaya to hold down the New York contingency.

I’m grateful to continue the fight to raise awareness & resources ~ I am finding it difficult to watch the news, I can’t bear the images, the loss of life, the devastating impact across the country.

I donated my fee to the cause ~ and decided to record the set 🇦🇺♥️
