Exploited Club welcome in power duo EMJIE and Emma B who bounce out 3 classy club cuts packed with groove, energy and panache.

Hailing from Brussels, EMJIE is catching heavy acclaim off the back of records for Get Physical and True Romance, as well as a recent B2B with Diplo, a radioshow for Keinemusik and bill-sharing with the likes of Dixon, LP Giobbi and Roman Fluegel. Her sound is characterised by stripped, Indie sonics, classic House and sleek, infectious vocals.

Working alongside her is Emma B - a Paris based producer and DJ also firmly on the ascent with releases on Shall Not Fade, BBC’s Sarah Story’s Stories and gigs at Rex Paris, Fabric London, Shelter Amsterdam, and After Caposile.
Highly skilled in the studio, her sound is steeped in dance floor literacy - informed by late 90s and early 2000s Minimal, Trance and Hard House.

'Ace Of Spades' kicks things off with a tight braid of organs and synths that duck and weave over immaculately crafted drums and a buoyant, proggy bass line that locks in a bubbly momentum from the get go. Vocals ring out, snare fills roll and harmonies fuse to form a fizzy, ecstatic vibe that nails a peak-flow tenor.

'My Favourite' follows up with neat, infectious drums that ooze snap and sass while a catchy synth and bass line climb together in lockstep. More vocals are woven in while harmonies thicken and a loose, free-flowing mood unfurls. Energy smoulders subtly shifting up the gears with a nice, mid-set intensity: chic, locked in and effortlessly sexy.

'The Bass You Need' finishes things off with an intricate, bongo-heavy drumtrack that's propelled by more swirling synths and spacious sound design. Deliciously trippy - the groove is heady and slinky recalling labels like Pagan and Swag from UK Tech House hay-day. Drums remain light on their feet - nimble and active whilst packing a satisfying wallop that'll make it an easy draw for DJs.'

The professor sat on the terrace of an abandoned tech facility. Once, solar panels were tested here. Now, it looked as if even the Sun itself had lost interest. A few stubborn bushes survived thanks to the rain and defiance. Overhead, an old floodlight kept short-circuiting — a flicker in memory of shifts that would never happen again. Maybe silence had chosen this forgotten perimeter to speak finally.

By his feet sat a flask of Japanese whisky — a gift from Cat. The very one given after their first clean mission. Spacelunch stared into the dark, trying to sense the outlines of life. Things used to be simpler. A home on Earth. A garage where a pet — once just a cat saved from a burning room as a cub — first spoke. “I should’ve never started those experiments,” he thought. But the images came anyway — the action, the laughter, the arguments — all of it made sense once, as long as someone was walking beside him, who could meow outside of protocol. Somewhere between the missions, the mistakes, the tall tales — their bond had dissolved. But by now, it was far too late to analyze anything.

Just after releasing 'Solidify' on Le Temps Perdu, STATUE (Tom Gould) has become a cornerstone of this years, 'Summer Riot VIII' compilation commissioned by purveyors of good groove, Futureboogie. 'Ivory' is a shining collage of live percussive work and ‘hands in the air’ piano and organ motifs, driven by its steady house rhythm. 

Futureboogie's eighth annual Summer Riot compilation EP is an eclectic gathering of producers and tracks that fittingly encapsulate the current balmy vibes and a summer load of festivals and parties already behind us.

PRÈMIÉRE: STATUE - Ivory [Futureboogie Recordings]

Secret Factory return to their own label with another fresh underground house offering that includes remixes from TERR and MAN2.0. This Hungarian pair is legendary in their homeland having put on Secret Fusion parties there for the last 20 years. Since 2019 they have established their label of the same name with the sort of sounds they play in their tasteful yet experimental house, disco and techno sets. Their first original is ‘Hashen Tashen’, a brilliantly melodic track with rich xylophones and rubbery drums getting you on your toes. Cosmic pads add future vibes and the whole thing is stylishly slick and serene.
First to remix is Brazilian-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer Terr who is making waves on labels like Phantasy Sounds. Her version is an intense affair with driving drums and lasers shooting across the face. It has ping-pong melodies and frazzled synth lasers that all bring raw energy. Then comes London’s MAN2.0, a man who takes cues from 80's synth, EBM and “toy instruments from charity shops” amongst other things. Andrew Weatherall is a fan and will likely appreciate the macho twisted disco of this twisted chugger.
The final hurrah is Secret Factory’s ‘No Garbage Please’, a breezy cosmic house cut with more meticulous melodies and pads. Well treated vocals are another subtlety that ensures this is further winning effort.
This third release yet again proves Secret Fusion is a label as vital as the party it came from.
