microCastle’s first offering of 2023 welcomes Presia to the label for his debut EP. Burgeoning French talent Presia has carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of electronic music and indie dance, resulting in a string of uniquely crafted records that present a resonant worldly sound. Hailing from the Alpine town of Annecy, Presia’s musical palate takes reference from a legion of genres across the industry’s vast spectrum; creating an authentic voice that is discernibly his own. 2022 proved to be a breakout year for the French talent, with a contribution to Isolate’s ‘Mutations’ collection preceding a five-track showcase for the Turkish imprint in July. Support from industry tastemakers soon followed as did an EP for Avidus’ Empore Music to end the year. Now, for his first project of 2023, Presia makes his microCastle debut with a four-track showcase entitled ‘First Time’.

EP opener ‘Brizz’ immediately captivates with its rubbery rhythms, glossy melodies and prismatic haze. Colours blur together as the springy bass and gauzy synths propel forward into a tastefully twisted interlude, one where fuzz and distortion unite, as the groove erupts alongside a furious march of metallic arps. The space-dance foray ‘The Path’ follows and further cements Presia’s dancefloor minded ethos. A collection of recalibrated sonics and emotionally resonant hooks highlight a retro-tinged, acid-laced first movement, perfectly whetting the appetite for a break of flickering sonics and granular flares.

Beneath the hypnagogic waves of ‘The Path’ lies the starry guitars and neo-saccharine drive of ‘Cash’. A cohesive fusion of indie and melodic themes, anchored by rocketing beats and percussive rides, tastefully building to a wild-eyed intensity of woozy guitars and soaring synths. Its soulful pulse proves to be the perfect prelude for the collection's final and title selection, the summery set closing record 'First Time'. Building with a subdued pulse, its wonky disorienting lead quickly catches hold of you, flowing through an exchange of free-form effects, as plucky stabs and pneumatic tones transfer energy into a finale of speaker-buzzing revelry.

microCastle's second offering of 2023 welcomes Ivory back to the label for his third producer showcase. Based in Milan, Italian artist Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory has been at the cutting edge of electronic music for the better part of a decade. Comparable to the path of his contemporaries, Daniel has found a way to create a personal universe by exploring electronic sounds, and ultimately finding his own place in the trend-driven state of underground dance music. Fully formed within the creative confines of his Milan studio, Ivory's third microCastle project 'Persona', follows on from 2021's 'Light Through Water', a seven-track affair which continued Daniel's mission to create bold synthesizer symphonies from the tools of the club. As an evolution in his sound, the release was significantly more stripped-down and dancefloor-friendly than his label debut 'No Scale Can Resize You' yet continued to demonstrate and build on the Italian's penchant for sophisticated sound design and memorable musical themes. Moving forward, 2022 proved to be a monumental year for Ivory, with the release of his debut album 'Feelin' sitting as the highlight, a release which was preceded by the immaculate EP project 'Rain'. The year also saw the Milan resident gain further recognition as a DJ, as he continued to exhibit fresh programming along with thrilling pace and flow, in turn becoming an in-demand presence at major clubs and events throughout the world. Now, following a string of impressive remixes to begin 2023, Ivory makes a welcome return to microCastle with 'Persona'.

microCastle’s third offering of 2023 welcomes Ditian back to the label for his first artist EP. Splitting time between Buenos Aires and Berlin, the Argentinean artist has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground over the last half decade. With an immediately recognizable sonic signature, Ditian channels languages of varied musical landscapes, churning them into his own complex rollercoaster of intricate electronica. A sound that is equally at home on rebellious dance floors around the world or in the sweet spot of a late-night leftfield listening session. A short but meticulous discography reflects Ditian's choosy nature; with Exit Strategy, Innervisions and TAU serving as the primary landing spots for his musical output. With 2023 being highlighted by a contribution to Dixon and Ame’s Secret Weapons 15 collection, Ditian now returns to microCastle with a four-track showcase entitled ‘Serpenta’.

The crushing title track crashes in and sets any preconceived ideas of Ditian’s music alight, forecasting jet force propulsions and wild signal bending synths. As somewhat of a departure from his previous experiments, Ditian’s clustered pungi mutations provide an enduring main theme, while a wonderfully warped break is sure to cast a paranoid spell over the dancefloor. 

‘Venena’ follows in fine style and further hammers down Ditian’s elusive vision. Dizzying, rapid fire sequences of rhythm, granular textures, and heavily manipulated synths, travel to the very edges, while maelstroms of drums and contorted basslines highlight a high-octane second act. 

‘Inertia’ lands at the collection’s midway point and does so in remarkably twisted fashion, stepping decisively on the gas and steering into apocalyptic transgressions. Never one to shy away from darkness or pushing boundaries, Ditian’s metallic storyboarding rises and falls across act one, consciously withholding energy, as grooves pulse and effects orbit, creating tension that eventually gets resolved as clusters burst open and oscillate in kaleidoscopic fashion. 

Ditian’s creative attitude reveals itself further on collection closer ‘Influenza’. Presenting some of his most club-adjacent rhythms yet, it’s a clever coax of billowing tones and scrappy melodica  which get wrapped up in a concordant fog, eventually giving way to a fiery percussive finale; after all, the fractal vapour trails and oceanic drones are all the better when they’re magnified to full size.
