The illustrious fifth edition of Selador's Showcase series is an altogether heavyweight affair featuring a whole host of electronic music’s big hitters. For many of this all-star cast it also constitutes a baptism of sorts as we welcome them to the label ahead of fully blown releases further down the line. So without further ado, let us introduce you to the runners and riders..

The first of our contenders pairs one of the label’s mainstays, our boy Quivver, with another legend of the scene, Funk D Void for a rather special collaboration. Together they deliver ’Dual State’, an assured piece of bass heavy electronic goodness that only 5 decades worth of combined experience can yield. Look out y’all, master craftsmen at work.

Next up we welcome Florian Kruse to the fold. The German’s stock has been on the rise recently with releases on Suara, Green & Noir and now he graces Selador with his own special brand of Melodic Techno. ‘Homebound’ is a sure-fire winner if ever we’ve heard one. Top marks. 

Our old friend Stelios Vassiloudis is also riding high on a hot streak right now off the back of releases on Bedrock & Poker Flat and here he continues that rich vein of form with the deep, darkness of ‘Burn’. Modernistic and menacing, this is music from the edge. Badass. 

Another good friend of the label, our favourite Spaniard, Affkt is next in line with the stirring ‘Cliff’. 
Underpinned by an effervescent string motif and taut arrangement, it growls and fizzes it’s way through an intensive workout. On point. 

From Spain we head across the border to France where Acumen picks up the baton for the first time on Selador with ‘Ici Ou Allieurs’. A rousing affair bursting with energy and attitude, this is just a taste of what’s to come from the Frenchman on our label. Stellar work 

Jamie Stevens is next to join the party with a slice off electronic sophistication like only he knows how. Discerning and restrained, this is an elegant creation that deserves your focused attention. The devil is in the detail. Outstanding. 

And finally, to close off in style we welcome Flowers & Sea Creatures. The Canadian duo have been a firm favourite here at Selador for several years with Dave Seaman even including them on his Renaissance Masters compilation as far back as 2011. Here they serve up the irresistible ‘Blades Nocturne’, a work of delicate beauty delivered in their own inimitable style. Exquisite. 

Without doubt, it’s a compilation to be proud of. Take a bow, one and all. Bravo.

Premiere: DNYO – Reaction (Quivver Album Edit) - Controlled Substance

Making their 2019 full release debut for Sudbeat are the dynamic duo of Gabriel Rocha & Juan Carlos Villalba, better known as Tiefstone. Theirs is a story that involves deep beats, alluring melodies and large helpings of funk. Breaking into the scene in 2015, their rise has been exponential with tracks already signed to Saved Records, Bedrock and two appearances on the Showcrates series.

In its original form, ‘Lestat’ is a powerful, deep synth-led progger. On a bed of crisp percussive rhythms, a repeating phrase running throughout intertwines with pads and sonics to weave a personal journey towards the stratosphere. On remix duties, Rick Pier O’Neil takes us down a darker, ethereal path towards the earlier hours of the morning while label manager Graziano Raffa turns in a lighter, xylophone-led version filled with warm, summery feels.

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine Music finds the label showcasing new interpretations of Eric Lune's 'Matter Of Fact' EP. Released in January of this year it was the Australian artist's debut for the Greek imprint, which followed impressive outings on MNL and Timeless Moment to round out 2018. Now Dopamine Music calls upon Paul Angelo and Don Argento and Christopher Fafa to reinterpret the tracks. 

The lone interpretation of 'Matter Of Fact' is provided by Paul Angelo and Don Argento who make their label debut here. The Cyprus based duo have achieved remarkable success over the last calendar year. EP projects for Soundteller Records along with a remixes for Beat Boutique, Movement Recordings and Yin highlight their discography. Now making their Dopamine Music debut in a big way they put a unique twist on 'Matter Of Fact'. Perhaps best known for their peak time creations the duo offer something a touch deeper here. Their dark, rhythmic core has become a trademark; smooth, chuggy and wondrously groovy it lays the perfect backbone for finely tuned percussion, distinctive stabs and a growling bassline to work their magic. Not without emotive moments, Paul and Don craft a break which draws on the sensibilities of the original. Cinematic in nature, icey pads rise to prominence, engulfing the cavernous centrepiece, before fully saturating your pleasure centres as the beats drop for a smooth finale.

The release concludes with Christopher Fafa also making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Within'. The Greek artist has found a home on 3rd Avenue and Soundteller Records, the latter of which released his lone single of 2018 entitled 'Cerebro'. Perhaps long overdue, Christopher now makes his first appearance on Dopamine with a stunning rendition of 'Within' to close the release out. Smooth, rolling and full of great rhythmic hooks, it's got a superb dance floor sensibility from the outset. The esoteric themes which drift over the framework push it into brilliant territory though. Coming to full fruition during the main break as delicate tones and clustered melodies converge in a perfect sonic marriage, before a tasteful build precedes a charming finale. A superb interpretation from Christopher which rounds out a top notch remix edition for Eric Lune's 'Matter Of Fact' EP. Don't miss it.
