"ICONYC is delighted to welcome German maestro Rauschhaus with his brand-new 'Visionary EP' to the label. The talented German producer has been a well-known entity within the scene and has graced some of the world's finest electronic music labels with his unique and lasting productions. Moritz, aka Rauschhaus who hails from northern Germany, Kiel to be precise, developed a unique style of music, full of ambiances, paired with despondent and warm dreamy patterns that guided him to where he is to today and embodies the sound he now personifies. People regularly equate his productions as opaque and vivid in equal measures. 
 
On his debut Rauschhaus leads with the outstanding opening track 'Epiphyse'; a stunning driving melodic progressive house affair. The track utilizes a deep groove as foundation, underpinned by a profound bass and smooth synth chords that gradually ease their way to the summit. Unified by a relentless kick drum and dusky atmospheric emotion, the composition climaxes by adding recurrent percussive elements and soft soaked melodies that come together to create a structured sphere of sonic satisfaction. Clever synth phrases complete the picture and create an ingeniously worked piece of art.

The melodic soundscapes of the accompanying title track 'Visionary' round of this spectacular release. Moritz's influences are immediately evident as subtle freeform concepts drift through percussive inspired instrumentations. Rippling melodies trip along a deep kick that anchors an auricular montage to create a special sonic infused moment, accompanied by a subtle chord line that is going to leave a mark on your aural perception. Stunningly textured pads that warm the soul and a strong melodic infused bassline provide the base for this inspired piece to play out in delayed glory. Essential stuff!

Rauschhaus has developed a unique style which endeared him to us; having establishing his credentials as a master of his craft. With his debut outing on ICONYC, Moritz takes his talents a step further to round off this brilliant underground 2 track crowd pleaser. The latest release on Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Simos Tagias back to the label for a brand new EP entitled 'Illumination'. The Greek artist has become a mainstay of label roster with this being his tenth appearance. As one of the most recognized names in progressive house, the Athens resident has showcased his music on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Cid Inc's Replug Records, Beatfreak Recordings and Sound Avenue. Now fresh off a remix for Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music, Simos makes a welcome return to Movement Recordings with a new EP alongside a remix from James Trystan.

Beginning with the title and showcase piece 'Illumination'' Simos crafts a proper slice of astral techno. Tough beats, electric rhythms and raspy stabs begin the nine minute journey. Senses heighten as elastic designs and cosmic effects unite across a devilish first act. Percussive flurries and metallic melodies further advance the narrative, flowing effortlessly into a dramatic break. Sinister in tone, the interlude saturates your senses with a cascading lead theme, opening up with each successive loop, before reaching an exhilarating crescendo. The companion piece 'Kabul' follows a similar sonic ethos, making it a perfect complement to its predecessor. Sitting at the heart of the piece is a tightly wound groove and distinctive percussive narrative. Ominous and intriguing, it's arcane nature is inviting as growling swells, astral arps and subtle vocal fragments make for an incredibly heady journey. The storyboard becomes fully realized in the main break, melting down to a cosmic collage, before waves of beats and percussion spark a powerful third act.

The lone interpretation of 'Illumination' is provided by James Trystan who makes his label debut. The UK artist continues to be one of the melodic techno scenes most steadfast producers, having racked up an impressive string of discography credits, most notably for Bedrock, Eleatics, Steyoyoke and Suara. Now making his first appearance on Movement Recordings, James provides a powerful rendition of 'Illumination'. Always a creative remixer, James reinvents the main elements into something decidedly more poignant, sitting as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a muscular groove, comes buzzing synths and hypnotic arps. It's unique contrast of grit and shimmer results in a remarkable sonic marriage, one which makes for a hugely energetic yet quite tasteful journey, elegantly peaking through a dramatic break, before a buzzing final act puts a cap on this cosmic gem. A stunning remix from James which rounds out a hugely successful return to Movement Recordings for Simos Tagias.

“Vesuvius” and “Caldera” are both peak time weapons. Hypnotic leads will take you on a melodic journey - while being pushed forward by an ongoing buzz of energy caused by the powerful drums.

“Panarea” has a more organic feeling based on the rhythmic percussion. Panarea is the kind of track that brings euphoria regardless when or where its played. A perfect counterpart of the other tracks on the EP.

Melodic maestro Nico Morano (KATERMUKKE, DAYS like NIGHTS) (BE) comes with a beautiful remix of “Vesuvius”. While keeping the drive of the original, a typical Nico Morano signature melody on top creates a more uplifting vibe to the package. Like we often say, best of both worlds.

The originals of the twelfth EP of the label are provided by a really talented artist from the UK, called His. Creator. The three detailed and well balanced originals, of which ‘Nightshift’ is the title track, are accompanied by a remix of the Hungarian Justrice.

The first track, ‘Nocturnal Eye’, already starts off with a lot of tension and sets the tone. The track has a compelling build-up towards the middle part of the track. Afterwards it slowly comes down without getting boring once, all guided by what we could name a signature piano synth. 

The title track, ‘Nightshift’, will make you fly for sure. The lead will bring you to some higher atmospheres, again guided by this piano synth. The track has an outstanding and surprising arrangement, which is mainly noticeable in the break, from which the lead rises again. 

REM, is probably the most powerful track of the EP with the heaviest lower end of the four. On the lower end a cutting synth is floating, which makes the full composition suitable for the dancefloor.

At Justrice’s interpretation of REM, he managed to bring in a lot of groove with his signature and remarkable percussion. The extended break gives the track some more tension, nevertheless it still stays very suitable for the dancefloor, maybe even more. The remix brings us to the end of a strong and well composed EP.
