For our next release we welcome our brother Jozef Conor to the label with his monumental 'Scary Kids Scaring Kids' EP featuring remixes from Holmes John, Retza and Bongani.

Scary Kids Scaring Kids introduces the low-slung ’rough house’ groove that Jozef has been working very hard to establish as quite a signature style and direction within his own music - as well as the hook “Walk away from there okay”, a sample that has become a staple of his sets over the last 12 months… now it all makes sense! 

Jozef then flips the title track for ‘Black Apple’, an alternate interpretation and second original to accompany his release. Here he still maintains various elements of the ’Scary Kids’ nature but with a more colourful and energetic twist. 

The first remix is courtesy of the legend, advocate and R18+ tech house enthusiast Holmes John. Rich in vibrance and movement, the rolling bass picks up the pace of the track and injects straight onto the dance floor of the main stage.

Retza then strips the original back with a deep and dubby rendition, complemented by delicate percussions and soaring pads that feed the atmosphere, illustrating a much more dreamy feel to the remix.

The last (but not least) flip of the track is an insanely polite yet driving progressive techno remix by our brother Bongani. Here he is really showcasing where he is at with his production by delivering this timeless masterpiece driven by the weight of the kick and carried by the accentuated, intertwining melodies.

‘Scary Kids Scaring Kids’ is also accompanied by an acapella to of which can be used as a DJ tool or for creation of own remixes and interpretations.

Rising Venezuelan star Adonis Rivera debuts on Rebellion with ​Access​, a punchy two-track EP that showcases the breakthrough talent at his best.

The release kicks off with ​Access​. Adonis explains how it “​imposes its strange sounds with a rhythmic line synthesized to give movement to the dance floor.” ​Subtle kicks reverberate alongside pulsing synths, as warm chimes give way to a driving bassline. ​Subversive​ comes next, “​a subtle track based on micro house sounds, furrowed in a modulated bassline and a firm kick.”

Flying the flag for Venezuela’s thriving musical output, ​Adonis Rivera​ is beginning to establish himself as one of the countries leading electronic musicians. With a discography that boasts releases on Besworx, Oblack Label and Oceanic Recordings, this EP on Rebellion marks a huge milestone in the young South American’s career.

Adonis Rivera - Subversive

'It took Mr Raoul K more than three years of work inside and outside the studio to complete his first album for Compost Records. His first goal was to show all the musical influences he came across during his time in Ivory Coast. Ivorian music has incorporated musical traditions and instruments from East-Africa, West-Africa and from Central Africa a real musical melting pot. To complete 'African Paradigm', Mr Raoul K used lots of the instruments he bought during his trips to Africa - including a Kenyan Mbira and Senegalese talking drums, for example. 

All instruments you hear on 'African Paradigm' were played the old-fashioned analog way - no synthesized sounds. Mr Raoul K teamed up with vocalists Ahmed Sosso, Lady Parul and Sona Diabate to emphasize his message, because sometimes (only sometimes) words speak louder than music. His second goal was to share his view on Africa through his music, making 'African Paradigm' a political album as well. Mr Raoul K has always used his music as a means of political expression - 'Le Karantkatrieme Peul' dealing with Barack Obama's presidency, for example. 

The album's main track, 'African Paradigm', was an epic track with a running time of about 50 minutes. Mr Raoul K thinks of the track as a work in progress. Here he releases two finished parts plus an additional intro. The remaining parts are scheduled for a later release. If you listen closely, you can hear Mr Raoul K painting layer after layer after layer of sound until the whole picture finally appears. Showing a beautiful continent, torn apart by foreign powers, independent by law but still suffering from the burden of being colonialized for cheap labour and raw materials and suffering from inner conflicts and civil wars. The music mirrors this picture. You can hear the sense of urgency, the suffering - different kinds of driving drums, haunting percussion, dancing flutes, irie effects lurking in the shadows... But there are contemplation and hope as well - the hope, that there will be a better future for Africa.

Shortly after the album release, Mr Raoul K will also present the African Paradigm EP 2 in cooperation with Manoo.'

Saqib and Bryant Jensen are dreamers, artists, visionaries and dear friends who DJ/produce dance music in Brooklyn. Between them they have about thirty years of musical experience ranging from metal to hip-hop to house, minimal and beyond.

Saqib is a resident artist and label manager for ebb + flow based in NYC and For The People based in Toronto. Bryant Jensen is a resident DJ for Bespoke Musik, the creative director for Zero, and in general a very well respected vibe creator.

Their friendship runs deep,as do their sets; anyone who taken a sonic journey with them can attest. To some they are known as Saqib and Bryant, but to others they are known simply as the Jamburglars.

Their energetic, spontaneous, and well-crafted dancefloor instigations have earned them notoriety in NYC and beyond. They are very active in the studio with several upcoming releases in 2020. Here, they remake the 23 year old “California Love” by Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur which is available as a free download.
