A showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic scene, Anjunadeep’s Explorations EP series returns for its nineteenth instalment, featuring Sascha Braemer, Mr. Sosa, Sinca, Moon Kyoo, MXV and Kaisland.

Kicking off the compilation is ‘Bad Behaviour’ from Berlin-based DJ and producer Sascha Braemer. Best known for his tracks ‘Caje’ and ‘Raoui’, Braemer’s decade long tenure has seen him released on labels including Get Physical, Kindisch and Stil vor Talent. Pairing Dom Fricot’s vocals with plucked synths, Braemer’s latest marks an exciting Anjunadeep debut.

Next up, Mr. Sosa, a British producer with releases on Last Night On Earth and Misplaced Records to his name, lands on Anjunadeep with ‘Euphoria’, a single showcasing his emotive production style. 

Based in Montreal, Sinca marks her artist debut with ‘Mancora’ - a euphoric track that leads with percussive-laden grooves and bright piano chords. Sinca’s latest affirms her positioning as an up and coming DJ and producer. 

Also marking his first release, South Korean producer Moon Kyoo touches down on Anjunadeep with ‘Between The Suns’. Leading with cascading melodies and pulsing basslines, Moon Kyoo’s latest showcases his detailed productions reminiscent of acts including Lane 8 and Ben Böhmer.

An intricate blend of intertwining synths and delicate chords, UK-based producer MXV delivers the emotive track ‘Only Want you’. MXV’s delicate sound design has seen him release on labels including Eat My Hat Music, Mango Alley and ICONYC.

Rounding off the compilation is Argentinian / US trio Kaisland with ‘Let The Rain Fall Faster’. Blending layered vocals with ‘80s-inspired synths, the trio demonstrate their chemistry as songwriters and producers.

Michael Brun makes his Anjunadeep debut with his remix of Lakou Mizik and Joseph Ray’s Kite Zo A’.

Known for blending electronica and traditional Haitian styles such as kompa and rara, Haitian-native Brun is a huge proponent for the island nation and makes the perfect choice for reinterpreting the Voudou-inspired compositions of Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray. A celebrated producer, Brun has worked with Alicia Keys, Calvin Harris, Diplo, and One Republic, been championed by TIME magazine, and won a Latin GRAMMY for his work on J. Balvin’s album ‘Colores’.

Showcasing his eclectic influences, Brun invokes the likes of Disclosure and AlunaGeorge in the track’s detuned chords, and simultaneously pays homage to the original's rhythmic heart with an emphatic dance-inducing drumline. ‘Kite Zo A’ is track 2 on Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray’s album ‘Leave the Bones’. It is an impassioned protest song that calls on ‘Papa Legba’, the gatekeeper who stands guard at the crossroads between the spiritual and the real. ‘Kite Zo A’ defiantly challenges the régime of Baby Doc Duvalier. The lyrics “Manje Vyan nan Kite Zo A” express that while Duvalier may try to destroy the country by taking away freedoms and pleasure of daily life (i.e the ‘meat’), he cannot kill the spirit and soul of the Haitian people - the ‘bones’.

‘Leave the Bones’ has accrued 1M streams on Spotify and Apple Music, and has garnered a wealth of global support from the tastemakers such as BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Resident Advisor, NPR, The Times, Billboard, Crack Magazine, Mixmag, Songlines, The New York Times, and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. It is out now, available digitally and as a 2 x 12” LP.

‘Infinity’ is the third EP in two years from Naarm/Melbourne artist Juno Mamba (real name Vinci Javier), following June’s ‘Freedom’ and 2020’s critically acclaimed ‘Light Echoes’, which gained support from tastemaker DJs including TSHA, RÜFÜS DU SOL and Bob Moses as well as Annie Mac and Sian Eleri at BBC Radio 1.

Out today, Juno Mamba debuts on the London-based electronic label Anjunadeep with ‘Blue Light’. The single is taken from his EP ‘Infinity’, out November 3rd, in partnership with Australian label Soothsayer. 

‘Infinity’ is about the infinite gratitude Vinci has for love and for the women in his life that taught him the meaning of love. A love letter to those who made him the person he is today, with each chapter conveying a formative experience.
 
He details: “I hope this music will encourage people to show love for one another because life is a short journey, and the world can do with some right now. Like with all my music, it’s intended to be contemplative and reflective with the hope of unifying us to celebrate life. For me the memories we create will live beyond our physical life.”
 
Opener and first single ‘Blue Light’ is a slow burning, euphoric dance track dedicated to the feelings tied to youth and first times. “My first experiences going to underage discos was otherworldly,” Vinci explains. “Being surrounded by friends, strangers, lights and loud music was pure joy. There was a moment when someone who I’d been thinking about for days approached me and at that moment, life could not be better. I wanted to capture that youthful and euphoric energy in this song. Sonically I was guided by my beautiful memories of this time. The vocals were written by my friend who was with me that night at the underage disco.”

‘Infinity’ follows this year’s acclaimed ‘Freedom’ EP, which has collected over 700,000 streams and extensive airplay from BBC Radio 1, with lead single ‘Siargao Dreams’ featured as their ‘Chillest Record’. Together, ‘Freedom’ and his 2020 EP ‘Light Echoes’ have drawn praise from Mixmag, Complex UK, The Ransom Note, Our Culture Mag, KALTBLUT and NME, plus adds to electronic tastemaker playlists including Spotify’s Brain Food, Electronic Rising, Friday Cratediggers, and Apple Music’s Chill House, Breaking Dance, and Trance & Progressive. 

A journey about love, the ‘Infinity’ is a sophisticated offering from an artist who continues to push their own boundaries.

Following their three captivating singles ‘List’, ‘Cesta’ and ‘Meliadi', which between them saw radio support from Sian Eleri at BBC Radio 1 and DJ support from Jody Wisternoff, TSHA, Qrion, and Icarus, il:lo are back on Anjunadeep with a remix from Swedish producer Hosini.

With a considerable back catalogue on Anjunadeep, Hosini’s intricate production style perfectly compliments il:lo’s sampling and sound design. Introducing some dreamlike breakdowns, a two-step beat, and a swathe of percussive elements, Hosini’s beautiful interpretation recalls the likes of Bonobo, Mild Minds, and Tycho.

Forming in 2012, il:lo have released on Future Classic, bitbird, Future Archive Recordings and Loci Records, releasing several EPs and remixing the likes of Panama, Jerro, Emancipator and CloZee. Characterised by extensive use of ornate sampling and live instrumentation, il:lo’s whimsical productions are inspired from the duo’s travels, taking their names from valued moments in their journeys.

A showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic scene, Anjunadeep’s Explorations series returns for its thirteenth instalment featuring Anjunadeep alumni Kahwe and three debutants in Collé, Rezident, and Shai T & DJ Zombi.

Kicking off the compilation is the Netherlands’ Collé with his ‘World To Come’. Hosting a rich vocoded lead and a chugging bass reminiscent of 80s synth pop, Collé makes a strong nostalgic statement in his label debut. In a marked contrast, British Anjunadeep alum Kahwe presents a textured track in ‘Ai No’, threading oriental samples over a deep driving low-end. 

Combining a warm synth progression with cinematic sound design, Rezident’s ‘Pure’ signals a promising debut for the German youngster. Closing out the EP are Shai T & DJ Zombi, two producers based out of Israel, with their percussion-led piece ‘High In The Sky’. Moulding soaring strings and a full piano progression, the duo’s inviting single alludes to the nearing summer.
