Family Piknik founder Tom Pooks teams up with one of the most prolific producers from Eastern Europe, Cadillac Express. LA based producer and DJ Choopsie announces her new ‘Remembering EP’ on Silver Bear Recordings. Set for release on the 21st September with lead singles Remembering and Magnify dropping over the summer.

After falling in love with electronic music whilst interning at Outlook and Dimensions festival, Alex Adkins AKA Choopsie has been building an impressive discography of releases, inspired by the likes of Elkka and Logic1000. With previous outings on Fantastic Voyage and RVDIOVCTIVE, Choopsie’s ‘Remembering EP’ dives deeper into her introspective style, showcasing her ability to intricately weave together captivating chord progressions, vocal samples and synth lines. Since her debut EP release in 2020 she’s been on a roll, playing at the legendary Dirtybird campout, releasing 3 further EP’s and playing shows in LA, Denver, NYC and Paris, with additional sets in Europe this summer.

Lead single ‘Remembering’ kicks off the EP with dreamy pads crescendoing into a flurry of garage influenced drums and delicately chopped up vocal samples. Magnify is an immersive listen, showcasing Choopsie’s ability to create lush, blissful lead lines on a backdrop of deep groove ridden beats. Rune is a nostalgic infused track, featuring swirling pads and punchy breaksy drums, producing euphoric and atmospheric moments and Echoes closes the EP in style with rich textures created using bouncy synths and sultry arps.

Choopsie says “I made this EP last winter while visiting home in Virginia and traveling around the east coast. Inspired to break out of my usual routine for making music, I challenged myself to make songs that were very different from my previous releases. I was really missing the music scene in LA and wanted to make something that I could play live when I returned, but that would also be suitable to listen at home'

Yeröm returns to ICONYC for a new release, this time around in collaboration with Aves Volare. The duo delivers an absolute classy piece of music entitled 'Hold me Down'. The Belgian and German based duo have been a mainstay in the electronic underground with their meticulous curriculum of musical productions. 

They kick things off nicely with their original mix of 'Hold me Down'. The melancholic moodiness shines through, as we meander effortlessly through club inspired melodies, while the sultry chords and vocal sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth. Yeröm's trademark beat manipulation is prevalent, as all manner of elements drift in and out of earshot while Aves wonderful vocal work completes the picture. Perfect for any melodic loving club crowd and to get you in the mood for a big night out.

James Harcourt, who has seen his releases featured on some of the world's best and beloved labels, marks his debut on ICONYC with a classy rendition of 'Hold me Down'. He created a rework full of tension from the word go, as the atmospheric vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a deep edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as his restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm melodic glow with an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up we welcome Four Candles for his debut on the label, the English maestro, fresh off some smashing releases on Bedrock and ICONYC Noir delivers two superb reworks for some peak time madness. Known for his polished sound, he keeps the general structure of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding fresh and upfront – His transcendent touch ups take the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy and energy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, changing the vibe and creating a blanket of energy that wraps around a brilliant driving groove. Superb!

Lost in Translation is a little more EP than a lot of little EPs. The bass, for instance, is constructed of not one but two separate steel panels, one under the other, to add strength and loudness to the tracks.
And although, like we said, a lot of little EPs have two brakes – very few of them have steel guard beams built into them, like Guillaume did.
Monaberry also gives you more music than most little EPs: A unique Analog Sol remix that can handle massive crowds quite comfortably without a lot of straining.
And where some little EPs let you feel every little mistake, this EP has big synths at all tracks to help take the harshness out of the ride.

The title track 'Luna Dub' is built around an evolving analog bass sound, which came straight from the artists’ hardware synths.  Soft pads and an urgent arp bring the energy of the track as it opens up.  Play this one in the dark!

'White Summer' is a more ambient, atmospheric tune with lush pads, haunting vocals and a distant, repeating piano line.  One for the end of a set or a sunrise. 

'Moral Hazard' closes the EP with an acid-tinged but chilled dub tune built around a lead line supported by dreamy chords and glitchy percussion.
