Charlotte de Witte continues to establish herself as a driving force on the contemporary techno scene with The Healer, her second EP on seminal British imprint Novamute. 

The four tracker comes after the Belgian has fully broken through with a dark, dense and driving sound that is proudly unrelenting. Her meteoric rise has come off the back of a series of huge productions, plus standout sets at key festivals and clubs all around the world. 

Charlotte’s fresh and innovative sound is immediately laid bare on opener ‘The Healer’, with eight minutes of spine-tingling, hypnotic techno. The sleek drums and icy hi-hats soon cast their spell, as well-crafted synths unfold up top to bring real emotion. ‘Silence’ is another slice of tunnel vision techno with perfectly designed drums rolling on and synths peeling off the groove. It’s trance inducing and otherworldly, with eerie voices adding to the all-consuming atmosphere. 

Then comes ‘Kuda’, a track built on monstrous kicks that hit hard and drive forward with real force. Filtered vocals bring character, and sharp edged percussion grows ever louder to take the track, and the club, to the next level. Last of all, ‘Song Of The Wood Nymphs’ shows another side to the producer with three minutes of suspensory synths and expansive ambient sounds that are filled with drama and tension.

This is a 4 AM track, definitely made to move large crowds. Rigorous and stern, yet driving and melodic, it's based on a solid drum pattern that concludes to an epic buildup where all melodic elements join the harmony and add their own perspective to end-up in a huge drop. After appearing for the first time earlier this year on We Are The Brave’s very first compilation with their track ‘Resistance’, Liverpudlian’s KUSP are both accomplished artists in their own right. KUSP began as an experiment between two old friends rediscovering their love for dance music. Since mid 2018, KUSP have exploded onto the scene with releases on Sonusfield, Octopus and most recently We Are The Brave.

Already seeing plays on national radio and support slots with Amelie Lens, Dave Clarke and more, it’s fair to say we are just on the ‘KUSP’ of their potential!   Their first full EP on the label opens with title track, ‘Dominator’ - overdriven 909s meet sparse percussion and melodic undertones leading to a cheeky 90s vocal sample and complete dancefloor carnage. 

The slower, deeper ‘Be Free’ rumbles with menace before exploding into life. Strong melodics again take the lead in the main break. ‘Diss’ ups the pace and dystopian feel with a devilishly groovy machine funk that nods heavily to the 90s with class. Finally, ‘Bodied’ rips from the stalls with huge drums and sparse percussive elements are perfect for those late-night sweaty stomp-a-thons.

UMEK’s label 1605 presents an EP from French duo Cosmic Boys, who recently featured on the imprint working in collaboration with UMEK himself, but this time they are back with two solo tracks.

Cosmic Boys previous works have been released via tracks and remixes on labels such as Popof’s FORM, Oscar Aguilera’s HE-ART and Richie Hawtin’s Minus.

Quickly rising through the ranks of the world’s techno elite, Cosmic Boys have achieved many top 10 selling tracks on Beatport, and currently their collaboration with UMEK is charted at No.2 in the techno section of the website.

The duo consists of Sebastien Bevil plus Gaby Meynadier, and they have also proven popular DJ’s with several festival bookings across Europe.

“Paranormal” opens the release with a hammering kick drum and tense pads that lay a foundation for the arpeggiating lead synth and sci-fi effects. Swelling with tension, its high-paced energy gives the track a frantic momentum that’s perfect for peak time plays.

Second of the cuts, “We Are The Futrur” is deeper and more stripped back with a building euphoria that engulfs the track. Underpinned by the relentless pounding of the tough percussion and sinister tones of the ominous vocal, this cut is a twisted blend of dark and light textures.

Family Piknik’s mastermind TOM POOKS comes back with a massive EP including two collaborations with French talents TIME & PONTIAS, now regular members of the Family. Red Castle is a true dancefloor weapon, with a catchy hook taking everyone to a higher dimension, while Faces to Ashes is based on a more subtle minimal groove, with suspended arpeggios and a cosmic break.
