The latest EP of Profondita, "Protonica," is a mesmerizing journey through the various strata of sound which seamlessly weave the popular Profondita melodies with a rich background of psychedelic effects. Hudur Shrim, the brainchild behind Profondita, has yet again produced a gem of a work that gives a satisfying feel to his old fans and to others who could now call themselves his new fans.

The title track, "Protonica," is an 18'50" odyssey for the epic-minded listener and sums up Profondita in a nutshell. Right from the off, the kick and basslines offer a driving, hypnotic spine, over which are laid the succulent and sparsely arranged layers of psychedelic sound. This is a progressive journey a slow-burning track that builds and broadens, yet is held beautifully in between deep, immersive rhythms and ethereal melodies played from the handpan.

There are three points which add on to making the EP more appealing: four praiseworthy remixes by the seasoned campaigners of the Altar Records who have been used to create a complex and deep situation in Profondita, yet sensitive to venturing close to the console of Profondita. Four of them, when taken together, add on to the track, how versatile have been the use of the original with creativeness at its very best.

"Protonica" itself speaks volumes to Hudur Shrim's ability to produce luscious soundscapes that exert a hypnotic pull and sweep the listener off their feet. The EP is a lush, sonic tapestry that is inviting to the listener in asking them to draw themselves into the tapestry of sound and cascading rhythms that are evolving in and around it. For the loyal fan to the listener who finds themselves foreign to the sound of Profondita, "Protonica" is a must-listen work that provides a full and fulfilling experience for the ears.

THEMISTOKLIS XAFIS, aka SpaceWave & I.X.O.P. is a greek musician born in the city of Thessaloniki. Being always surrounded by music, from child he’s showing an innate talent to create rhythms and a special passion for percussion. Through the ages of 14 to 18 he was part of a Death Metal Band, playing the drums. Not only engaged with percussion but always tuned to other musical instruments and aesthetics, in the mid 90’s, while being among the founders of the Psychedelic realm in Greece, he got contact with electronic music. Since then he has been performing as a Dj & Producer at Festivals and Parties. With a musical career built in the last 2 decades, he considers music to be the food for his soul. His productions are wings of the mind able to translate its magic visualizations of  sounds in space.
