What do clouds sound like?  For 3024's first release of 2023, we are super proud to present an exploration of that question by the amazing Italian-Ivorian producer Ehua on her new EP.  

"Clouds EP" consists of four sonically and energetically varied tracks inspired by the paradoxical nature of these mood-shifting objects, suspended in space. They can be heavy or light, menacing or comforting, distraught or at ease. They are still but in motion, they can cause fear and confusion or give you strength, awareness and empowerment.  Ehua's music combines live handmade percussion and flutes (the ancient Duduk on Nefele and recorder on Vola) with fierce drum programming and synth work.  This is music for the mind and the 'floor! Enjoy.

For the second 3024 TAPES we are very excited to present one of London's most forward thinking producers and DJs: Ehua (pronounce Eh-Wah), who is celebrating her debut release for 3024 'Clouds'.   Repost and link as much as you like - let the music travel!

3024: Please describe the mix in a single sentence ?

EHUA:  "This mix is dark contrasts, bursts of sunlight and rhythmic complexities all the way, it explores the entire emotional spectrum."

3024: What DJ inspires you at the moment / has inspired you throughout the years and why?

EHUA: "Flore’s DJ sets are some of the best sets I’ve seen in recent times. The skills and the selection are always next level. But through the years I’ve been inspired by so many incredible DJs from so many different scenes - from minimal techno, to dubstep, drum and bass, jungle - my inspirations are countless."

3024: What are you working on / what have you got forthcoming?

EHUA: "At the moment I’m working on a bunch of projects in between touring and I have a few tracks coming out in the next months. I’m also exploring lots of new sound directions, I’m going through a phase where I constantly have a lot ideas and I excitedly and disorderly jump from one to the other. It’s fun though, it feels good."

In Ehua's words: "My contribution to the Gudu Mix Series is a 'percs and breaks' inspired mix. I wanted to create an organic progression from percussive techno to more deconstructed rhythms by blending club textures with a raw - almost orchestral - feel, where the first and last track share a similar vibe but sit at opposite ends of the sonic spectrum."

Italian producer and DJ, Ehua has been making waves since the release of her 2018 debut EP, ‘Diplozoon’. She has since played at some of the world’s most iconic clubs and festivals, and she holds a bimonthly residency at Rinse FM, where she explores percussion-influenced sonic realms across a wide range of tempos. 

Her recent releases include ‘Clouds EP' (3024),  ‘Aquamarine’ (Nervous Horizon), an EP inspired by the colour and motion of water, ‘Giada’, a single part of Fabric Records’ V/A ‘Fabric Selects II’, and a remix of  ‘Complain’ from Deena Abdelwahed’s highly acclaimed new LP, ‘Jbal Rrsas’. 

Away from club music, Ehua retains  a life-long interest in the arts, which she cultivates as a means of self-expression within her practice. Ehua has composed soundtracks for short films and artistic performances, and she is part of the Rome based creative collective SPAZIO GRIOT.
