JuJu is the brainchild of Sicilian multi-instrumentalist Gioele Valenti (Lay Llamas, Herself). Following on from the projects 2016 debut – widely hailed as one of the best, most innovative psych albums of the year – Valenti has signed to Fuzz Club for the release of sophomore LP ‘Our Mother Was A Plant’, released September 22nd. Carrying on in its predecessor’s footsteps, the new LP is a continuation of JuJu’s ritualistic sonic exploration into the cultural implications of the current refugee crisis, humanities increasingly strained relationship with Mother Earth and neo-pagan mythology.


Even more forward-thinking and adventurous than the last, the new album summons all kinds of spirits with its rhythmic, otherworldly psychedelia – changing the game, once again. Calling it just a ‘psych’ record would be an injustice though, JuJu’s shamanic mantras are influenced just as much by afrobeat, krautrock, glam, post-punk, art rock, drone and everything in between. As The Quietus put it: “Along comes an artist who resets the coordinates and makes the past seem startling new again”

It’s easy to guess Acid Baby Jesus’ shtick just going on their name but to those who aren’t already in the know: don’t be fooled into thinking these are just another quasi-religious, LSD-loving psych-rock band - there’s a reason these Greek garage-rockers have been championed so highly in the European scene. Acid Baby Jesus are less concerned with the spiritual and tripped-out realms that their name foreshadows than they are with pure hip-shaking, rock’n’roll hedonism.

Formed in Athens in 2009 the four-piece have two LPs behind them, ‘LP’ and ‘Selected Recordings’, and after a long three-year wait they’re back with their third album ‘Lilac Days’ – their first on Fuzz Club Records. The album sees ABJ at their best; their frenetic garage-rock distilling a hazy mix of 60s Western psychedelic pop, traditional Eastern folk and the scuzzy R'n'R sounds of The Stooges or Brian Jonestown Massacre.

As Acid Baby Jesus get ready for a UK/European tour kicking off next week, the Athens four-piece are now sharing the pacing, hip-shaking garage-rock opus ‘Guide Us In’ – the second single from their long-overdue third LP Lilac Days, due for release September 29th on Fuzz Club.

Acid Baby Jesus - Guide Us In

Christian Berghoff and Sebastian Haas are two lifelong friends from Saarbrucken, Germany who back in 2007 formed the duo Pretty Lightning. Citing influences of everything from 60s psychedelia, delta blues, krautrock, drone to the minimalistic compositions of Terry Riley – Pretty Lightning’s raw, twisted psychedelic-blues is completely out of this world, like a ferociously tripped-out mix of Wooden Shjips and Amon Duul II.
 
Some two years on from their last album ‘A Magic Lane Of Light And Rain’, Fuzz Club Records have signed the duo for the release of their third LP ‘The Rhythms of Ooze’, due November 10th. Their latest effort is an incredible collection of tracks that see’s the duo focus even more on their ever-evolving, mind-blowing rhythms and unremitting krautrock grooves.
 
With the announcement, Christian and Sebastian are sharing the stomping, fuzzed-out mantra of lead single 'Willow Valley Blues' - a primal and scuzzy call-to-arms that doesn’t take its foot off the accelerator for the second. Propelled by marching drums, fuzzy bluesy guitars and crackly garage-rock howls, 'Willow Valley Blues' sounds like a visceral and heady mix of Ty Segall, Moon Duo and early The Black Keys, you know, when they were good.
