Welcome to Matsumoto!

After my "Demos vol.1," I never got around to putting together a follow-up tape... that is, until NOW. All tracks are produced around the mid 90's, with a few soundbites added later on. Sound quality is pretty much lo-fi but for those who dug my first tape, I think you'll see the connections.

While Demos vol.1 was created entirely in Hawai'i, Demos vol. 2 finds me on a transition to California (I was in the Bay Area from 1996 to 2000) and made some tributes that are included here.

I kept some rEmixes in like the first one (like Big L, Das EFX, Supercat, Crooklyn Dodgers), as well as some local HI acts such as Hi Habitats, Casper and Todd G a/k/a Kid Kalooa).

And of course, mo' beats and skits...

What is beat-making? To me, it's one of the purest forms of self-expression, with the ability to pay tribute to musicians that influenced us, but to give them our own spin and perspective. In my case, there is a lot of props to the likes of sly stone, EWF, kool and the gang, tom waits, coltrane, as well as all things 80's... a formidable part of my youth. Hope you enjoy these treats I've prepared this year...
