"After our first three releases laid the foundations of what we're looking to achieve with FKOFd last year, we're opening 2014 with what we hope is an equally powerful message of intent. FKOFd004 also marks a slight departure from our norm, with the label's first few drum & bass-esque releases. But fear not, all four tracks on this EP continue where we left off at the end of 2013... 

"We've long been fans of Austria's DubApes, a production and DJ duo who've been terrorising Europe with their unique take on bass music for the past few years. Having first caught our attention with a number of well received releases on Bacon Dubs, we snapped up a FKOFd EP we felt best summarised Lukas and Salim's signature sound. 'The City' opens FKOFd004, full of threatening ambiance and powerful percussion. 'Feel The Tribe' bridles with tension before unleashing itself as a full-blown skank out riddim, there's no other way to describe it. 'Jah No Dead' takes the EP down a few notches, full of stripped back vocals and floating synths supported by a sublime rolling sub. With its powerful low end and almost Oriental vibe, 'Endangered Dreams' brings the EP to a close - albeit one that's equally at home on the stereo or on the largest of sound systems."

Making Aerokin was probably one of the most brain straining tunes of mine ever. Reason why was that in production I don't really focus on what key my tune is or the structure, I just GO. 

What got me with this tune is that i would get caught in-between keys and it would sound "good". still not sure what the keys are but i managed to bring both keys together in my opinion . 

While making the tune I envisioned a KOROKat head floating about in the city, which is why it sounds a bit airy and movemented. Besides sampling a couple vocal samples and hits, the real sounding strings and instruments all come from inside ableton and modulating string pads. Being the first tune I've made that blends two keys as such, it def has a special place in my heart.

“In our (almost) four year history, we’ve worked with a handful of artists we knew were destined for big things - maybe even before they or anyone else did. And, in most cases, we’d like to think time has proven us right. As we’re halfway towards the label’s first birthday, we figured it’d make sense to celebrate six months of FKOFd, and four years of FKOF, with one of those artists…

“We’ve been working with Holland’s The Illuminated since hearing Scavenger, one of their first productions that caught the attention of Skream and Benga on Radio 1, some two years ago. Dyzz, Rebus and Vence’s music is reminiscent of the early days of dubstep - with inspiration drawn from the same places as the sound’s forefathers. The trio may have only been producing together for a few years, but they’re quick on their way to joining the likes of Noisia, Icicle, Proxima and TMSV as internationally known and respected bass music producers.

“FKOFd006 is another flawless release from The Illuminated; demonstrating their skill across the bass music spectrum. Vintage is a classic production from the trio, opening the EP with an impressive statement of intent. de_dust is a firm favourite amongst some of the scene’s most respected DJs (along with anyone who knows where the name’s from), while Psychonauts ups the scare factor with a nightmare-esque second drop. HMU draws FKOFd006 to a close, a warming lighters-up-eyes-down riddim.”

The Dispatch Limited offshoot continues to mature, showcasing new talent and keeping the music fresh and diverse. We are pleased to present the very first artist album for the label, coming from Ukrainian export NickBee.

Formed of 11 exclusive tracks, “Empty Your Mind” is an all-encompassing album in every sense of the word. NickBee sets off an emotional journey into the senses, seeking to remove all the expectations and format limitations that have constrained Drum & Bass Artist albums of the past.
With absolute freedom from genre restrictions, the soundscapes and atmospherics are left open to exploration. Spectacular harmonies are built on top of shifting tempos and styles, which constantly develop and evolve as we progress through the album.

NickBee brings us a brilliantly crafted novel with every track representing an aptly named chapter and each one marks another milestone of creative thought.

Entering into largely unchartered water for us here at Dispatch, the album features more alternative styles than we have ever pushed before. By ensuring the quality stays paramount, this still connects strongly to our core values.

Taking things in a more soulful direction “Black & White” and “Kloe” bring house and garage inspirations to the album, applying a pure and subtle, yet still distinctive sound to deeper vibes. “Into Your Mind” separates the album’s heavier components perfectly, with a majestic classical interval.

NickBee utilises the total artistic freedom given to him to demonstrate an outstanding grasp of electronic music, reaching every corner of the spectrum as he brings us his own take on music today. Opening with “I Say You” the immaculate musicality carries right through the album. “White Night” sparks emotive sentiments soon after and NickBee builds up the momentum to unleash some spectacular tech forays, “X-Ray” and the assault of title track “Empty Your Mind”, carried out with unfaltering production levels in true signature style.

Red Eyes' "Spatial" album was their first ever album release which featured on Dubtastic late 2012, but here we are with yet another set of Red Eyes vibes through the creativity of others. In this remix EP we present you with the sounds of ARtroniks, Digid, KOROstyle and Red Eyes' side-project Enkidu. ARtroniks delivers more than enough with a well balanced dubstep tune which leans to dub. Digid sees things different and delivers a straightforward dub floating on the recognisable vibes. KOROstyle pushes the edges of his sound with his glitchy dubstep remix. Enkidu's remix on the other hand focuses on the minimalistic beats with a liquid touch to smoothen it all out.

The structured drum patterns help create a solid sub-region and the depth of the percussion forms a hypnotising force that keeps the listener locked in the mix! Piezo implements new variations every few bars and the snare hitting the mix sounds dangerous due to its layered and snappy hit.
