The latest release on Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes MPathy and Øntold to the label for their debut EP. As a producer for over a decade, Berlin based MPathy has certainly found a comfortable home on German powerhouse Steyoyoke, with fifty-seven discography credits coming courtesy of the long-standing imprint. In addition to being an integral part of the beloved label, MPathy is also an accomplished DJ, being a fixture of Berlin's nightlife as well taking his immaculate sounds to some of the world's trendiest venues and biggest festivals. Meanwhile, Iranian artist Øntold has also achieved measurable success across his near five-year career. His astral sound has found a home on Sequence, Steyoyoke, Us & Them and his own Squarenoise Records imprint, while earning support from Dubfire, Øostil and Tale Of Us, among others. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, MPathy and Øntold debut on Movement Recordings with ‘Sakkara', alongside a remix from Unseen.

The title track ‘Sakkara' sets the tone for the release with a darker dancefloor monochrome. MPathy and Øntold create a dominating presence with rocketing beats and powerful synth flares, as driving percussion and elastic-like basslines flow through ominous chord changes. A haunting break sits at the heart of the journey, bringing with it a sense of drama and tension through dystopian-style atmospheres, before tastefully building to a stripped down finale of buzzing lines and buoyant rhythmic structures. The companion piece ‘Asa' finds Mpathy and Øntold calling on the vocal talents of John M for an even darker look into the duo's studio repertoire. With a peak-time energy that exudes spirit, the duo perfectly marries titanium coated kick drums and clustered effects with John's haunting vocals, in turn creating a spoken word story to captivate the mind and body. Evolving further across a short but impactful break, it's a series of clustered claps which provides a mature crescendo, ultimately leading to a vocal driven finale. Also included for the less vocally inclined DJs out there is an instrumental version which makes this even more playable for all the adventurous selectors.

Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Asa' is Unseen. Adrian Barrin, also known as Unseen., is a visionary artist who emerged onto the Melodic House & Techno scene in 2018. With a keen focus on blending melodic elements and emotional depth, Unseen. has established himself as a trailblazer in the industry with releases via Heinz Music, Steyoyoke and his own Lelantus Records. Having made his debut on label affiliate Astral Records in 2022 with a contribution to the Celestial, Pt. 2 collection, Unseen. now makes his Movement Recordings debut with a stunning rendition of ‘Asa'. While maintaining the dark spirit of the original, Unseen. aims squarely at a peak hour dancefloor with a sweeping sonic experience all his own, deconstructing the vocal and adding his own array of astral artefacts for an exhilarating sonic experience.

Establishing the next step in Diamond Blu Records’ journey through reimagined, forward thinking underground dance music is Toronto’s Alex Lytvyn. Known professionally as Pastiche, he just tied the bow his new Asymetric EP. Released exclusively on Spotify September 4th and all other platforms on September 25th, Asymetric invokes mental pictures of a more futuristic dancefloor. While many ambitious artists create bodies of work inspired by the same imagery, the key difference in Pastiche’s approach is his uniquely psychedelic influence onto his beats, most evident in the title track. Cosmos is a strong opening number, incorporating a combination of lush pads, a sharp baseline and a gentle melody that takes center stage during the track’s breakdown. Funkmatic finds itself among the list of tracks a DJ would want to keep as a secret weapon; the retro vibes inherent in the track’s synth play is enhanced with a deep vocal sample in which the narrator defines the many true meanings of House music. The EP concludes with The Girl, which is one half clean tech house and one part deep story narrated with sensual style. About Pastiche
Known to his friends as Alex Lytvn and previously referred to professionally as “Uth,” Pastiche has been producing since the age of 12. He’s crafted numerous different styles of Dance music from Progressive and Goa trance to Drum n Bass to Techno, but what made him finally walk down the path of house under his newest monicker is a need to form his own variant of the genre. He has accomplished this goal exponentially over the last two years, incorporating unique melodic patterns and extended vocal narratives that tell a story within the breakdown. This kind of sonic mixture results in the underground Techno vibe we’ve come to appreciate, but with an uplifting and psychedelic twist. He draws inspiration from Boris Brejcha, Maceo Plex, Matt Lange, and Kollektive Turmstrasse, never leaving their hypnotic beats out of his own sets.
