5-tracker EP made of diverse sharp-edged techno building up to intense industrial depth.

Another Alias serves the warm-up with a soothing yet disturbing synth that drags you into what sounds like a rock in a washing machine kind of situation, while bright percussion and heavy kickdrums keep balance not to get too lost. Sixth sense exploring at a high pace with AIROD. Old school closing material brought to new life, presenting a dirty dusty vibe, metal and acid-tinged fireworks plus a characteristic vocal. Thyatira; percussion-driven floor whiper by french determined duo MOTH. Unusual dark groove accompanied by loaded harmonies. Sensive's Deus Ex Machina, of which the track title seems to refer to a musical plot twist from the break on. Industrial techno stomper lead to higher spheres by guidance of a resonating alarm. Last but not least newcomer LNA's Elemijn; relentless mechanical breakbeat work-out, bad man rhythm from hell's oven.

Why do we tell stories?

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs.

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human.

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun.

With Voyage & Return, Chapter 24 returns with seven tracks collected from artists across the world to bring these themes to life. 

This broad-ranging edition of the series spans storytelling electronica from Peruvian Luis Leon, while NO GRAVITY and Olivier Weiter offer two variations on the broken beat theme. Meanwhile, label newcomers Yacine Dessouki & Alani make their own contribution with the organic house of the powerful opening track.

Elsewhere big dancefloor cuts are offered by QUARTZ and Several Definitions, before deft emotional composition from Christopher Ivor brings the compilation to a clean and satisfying close.

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. 

And so, as the storyteller utters that age-old, magical phrase 'Once upon a time...', let yourself be carried away.

A silky smooth intro, peaceful seconds, before the restless dream starts. Wide open and mysterious deep that is “Soñar“ the title track of Microtrauma’s first longplayer. Rising Bulgarian talent Imperieux returns to ATLANT after his ATL008 debut with a fresh batch of music. This second release demonstrates a maturity and evolution in his sound, so we just had to bring this music to you at the earliest opportunity.

Lead track ‘Culture Mess’ is a dark dense twilight trip with a twisted arp theme pitted against thrashing, crashing percussive elements and venemous rasping snares.

By sharp contrast ‘Gen’ focuses on tribal elements and evokes far off mystic lands with vibrant flowing organic sounds and mystic nomadic textures.
The intense ‘Aritmetika’ takes this EP back to the dancefooor and is perfect for that moment when everyone is lost in their own thoughts, oblivious to external factors ... because only the music matters.

Closing out our 12th release is ‘Talking To Myself’. This has more of a straight forward 4/4 jam, but don’t be lulled into a false sense of security. The eerie trippy synth lines and snipped echoed vocal edits with get deep into your mind. Four tracks that warrant repeated plays, Impérieux has really delivered something special.

These tracks have been getting a lot of attention after ATLANT label leader BOg gave audiences a sneak preview at recent gigs in Beirut, Paris and Cologne. The likes of Trikk has also been playing this music out live to fantastic reception.

Hailing from Bulgaria, Imperieux is starting to gain attention and momentum after the release of his first major EP on Paris based imprint ATLANT.

London-based DJ and producer Anii is welcomed to the AEON fold with her mystical ​​Magic EP. She invites the indomitable forces of Man Power and Kiwi to each provide their own take on her original productions.
Speaking of the EP ​Anii ​​explains that she had ​“been working on it for the last couple of years. It’s a project I saved and changed so many times, that I even forgot to name it. In the end I thought the name can just be Magic!”.
Opening the EP, ​Magic is littered with glistening percussion, tribal drums and mysterious exotic undertones. It’s an immersive track and one that begs you to get lost in it its rhythm. Me Me Me label boss Man Power adds a harder edge to his extended version that veers off midway with a huge, pounding bass and a furious flurry of synths. Trojan Horse ​is a dark and hypnotic affair with middle-eastern influences and industrial percussion. Kiwi puts his own stamp on the closing track adding a low, growling bass and subtle distortions.
Anii is living proof that hard work pays off. Since arriving in London from her native Poland, she’s earned a solid reputation for playing high quality melodic techno and has appeared on line ups alongside Kolsch, KiNK and Michael Mayer. She’s had releases on revered imprints including Kompakt and Polymath, and this latest EP on Alex Niggemann’s esteemed label marks the beginning of a fruitful relationship.
