Anja Schneider further demonstrates her creative versatility and musical evolution with ‘Aura’ - a collaboration with singer/songwriter Sophie Hunger. 

The relationship between the pair goes back to Anja remixing the track ‘There Is Still Pain Left’ from Hunger’s 2018 album ‘Molecules’. A track which slipped under the radar through 2019 but enjoyed a resurgence in the second half of 2020 with a number of radio plays from stations desperate for music which fitted the more thoughtful, slower pace of lockdown life. This unforeseen consequence relit a creative spark. Conversations happened between the two Berlin-based talents and the idea for ‘Aura’ was born.  

Despite living in the same city, the collaboration was recorded remotely between the Blackhead Studios where Schneider is based, and Hunger’s apartment kitchen-come-studio. Despite this physical separation ‘Aura’ oozes emotional resonance. Hunger’s lyrics shimmering with an intense yet fragile quality over Schneider’s deeply felt melancholic soundscape. A joint expression unashamedly coloured and shaped by the shared experience of living through a typically brutal Berlin winter during continuous pandemic lockdown. Feelings spelt out by the lyrics in ‘Aura’

We're back from our extended holiday period and we're proud to present our first release of 2024, this scintillating new EP from the Australian bushtechno weapon, Tom Baker. The B-Side, 'Weather Patterns' finds Mr. Baker venturing into dark, driving musical territories. With its broody and menacing character, this track acts as the perfect storm to turn a dancefloor inside out. The title track, 'My Mistake', was born from a serendipitous moment in the studio, a happy accident whilst messing around on the tools that have evolved into a sonic masterpiece that is simply extraordinary. The EP is accompanied by a banging psychedelic techno remix of Weather Patterns by Greenwolve and a smooth progressive take on 'My Mistake' by Human Element. That was the challenge Mobilee head Anja Schneider set for herself on her recent addition to the legendary BBC radio program, and she delivered with the help of a debut from Maya Jane Coles, a classics from Underground Resistance, and an airing of her own latest, "Jimmy," which, with it's propelling conga loop and haunting organ climax, made for one of the most memorable moments of the two hour session. This achievement will be no surprise to anyone familiar with Schneider's history as a producer, club DJ and respected radio host, with her own Dance Under The Blue Moon program filling the Berlin airwaves since almost 15 years. And while she has been teasing us with "Jimmy" since July (when it surfaced on her mix for John Digweed's Transitions podcast), the time as finally come for it appear in it's complete form, released on vinyl and digital as Mobilee141. On the b-side is "Lovetube Thinking," a previously unaired acid house cut that offers its own spine-tingling peak thanks to the vocals of Patrick Heym, the latest singer in a long line of collaborators Anja has called upon to give her music that extra dance floor magic. It makes for a magnificent one-two punch of a release that DJs can now use in their own essential sessions.
