For HIM

EIRA is an organization dedicated to the development of projects that foster the development of contemporary dance and performance in Portugal and internationally.
Since 1993, EIRA produces and promotes the work of the Portuguese choreographer Francisco Camacho. From 1996 onwards, EIRA started to produce and promote internationally other Portuguese artists, being today the daily workspace, production and distribution company of the Portuguese choreographers Francisco Camacho, Rafael Alvarez, Mariana Tengner Barros and Tiago Cadete.
EIRA productions have been presented extensively in Portugal, Europe (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Croatia, Spain, Slovenia, Finland, France, Italy, United Kingdoom, The Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Romenia, Switzerland , among others), South America (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay) and the United States of America, Africa (Cape Vert and Mozambique), Middle East (United Arab Emirates) and Asia (China).
EIRA also supports other Portuguese and foreign artists through the use of its dance studio in Lisbon, organization of artist's residencies and the support and co-production of dance works by Portuguese and foreign artists. 
EIRA has developed in the past, several partnerships with, among others, Les Ballets C. de la B. (Belgium), Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods (Belgium) and CIANT (Czech Republic) for the development of international projects related with artistic creation, training and research. 
In the frame of artistic programming, since many years ago, EIRA collaborates with CITEC on the organization and curatorial program of the annual editions of Citemor Festival in Montemor-O-Velho /Portugal. In 2003 and 2004, EIRA also organized the Festival Temps d’Images Lisboa. From 2005 until 2011, EIRA has been engaged in the programming of its own venue in the center of Lisbon - espaço EIRA33 - presenting performances, festivals, workshops, artists residencies, etc. In 2014, EIRA will organize in Lisbon, the first edition of CUMPLICIDADES FESTIVAL. 
CUMPLICIDADES is the new international contemporary dance festival of Lisbon, an initiative organized by EIRA in partnership with Centro Cultural de Belém and Teatro Camões. The first edition will take place in Lisbon between 15th and 30th of March 2014.
CUMPLICIDADES which in Portuguese means "Cumplicities" will be a biannual gathering of people and diverse art works, where we aim at creating complicities among artists, art professionals, spectators, ideas, artistic views and positions.
The participants will be independent artists, young or more recognized, whose scope of work is contemporary dance, and those who work with the body and movement as a reference although coming from other artistic disciplines. The festival aims to bring together artists from Portugal and various parts of the world, with a special focus on places culturally related to Portugal: Europe, South America, Africa and Asia.
It will be also an opportunity to invite colleagues from other parts of the world to join us and become our accomplices in the making of this new project. Every edition, we will invite two programmers (1 portuguese and 1 from abroad) to curate the festival in close dialogue with the artistic team of the EIRA. The portuguese guest will be in charge of selecting and inviting portuguese dance performances as well as commission a limited number of new works from Portuguese choreographers. Our guest colleague from abroad will be invited to propose a selection of foreign dance pieces to Lisbon. 
More than ever, it makes sense today to invest in the promotion of a variety of views, as only a network of complicities will prevent us from falling into the restricting view of a single person over art, and consequently over the world and our present time. That's why our choise for this festival is to have two programmers in every edition, and new ones every time. 
In 2014 the guest curators are Ezequiel Santos (Portuguese program) and Danjel Andersson (International Program).
In addition to a program of performances, several parallel activities will be organized : artists meetings, think tanks, debates, etc. It will be an open format project that will be designed every edition by a guest artist. He/she will be also invited to propose a set of parallel activities that can foster the meeting and dialogue among artists from various contexts and between the artists and audience in general, during the festival period.
