Using the classic Pioneer DDJ 400 along with my archeologic PC and blasting from a JBL 310 Partybox.
At the desert we had additional sound volume provided by Carlos extra JBL and power supply from Alan's Jeep, engine running on the side.

Annual celebration for no reason except for that good things should be done often. And that involves friends, music and unlimited beer.
This year themed “arabia style” to challenge a bit the dressing styles… some took it more seriously than others.

Only had a proper recording of the introductory set, so patched on top are loose content from the later & wilder night. Apologies for the funny angle, you mostly get to see floor and feet - it will be better next time. We had some breaks due to power shortage, but in the end the uploaded final set is mostly what survived after youtube’s copyright review! :D

flying melodic techno mix | artmospheric

Based on a sound clip recorded in the city of Kashan, Iran, during a Shi'a Muslim holiday street celebration, where this improvised group elegy was played out of a speaker, next to a corner where a very tasty soup was handed out to the crowds. When I asked if there was something I could pay, I was pointed up to the skies. Thank him.

Inspired by the artistic theme of Shams Festival and absorbing from a 5 year long stay in the Middle East, this set is more of a tribute to the culture, the history, the struggles, the strength, the life and the art of the people in the region.
Vocal samples of modern artists covering classics by the lebanese Fairuz, the egyptian Umm Kulthum and the farsi Googoosh were mixed onto selected tracks by some of my favourite experimental electronic artists. In respect to the host country, I added a sample of the emirati Hussein Aljassami before twisting the direction with a slowed down Bu Kolthoum, the syrian soul rapper.  I pay my respect to the struggle of the people suffering under injustice with a sample from the palestinian-jordanian Zeyne, over remixed beats by the equally militant Sama’ Abdulhadi - a queen idol in the techno scene. For some color, I end with a nod to the equally relevant east with the great Nusrat, echoing over disputes between Pakistan and India as an anthem of love and beauty.
