Jolene Hansell is a criminal defence lawyer, a part time professor teaching Public and Constitutional Law, and a coach for the Jessup Moot. Professor Hansell completed her undergraduate degree in International Development and Globalization at Ottawa. After completing her Masters in Peace Studies at Georgetown University she returned to uOttawa to complete her JD in 2018, graduating in the top 5% of her class. 

 In this episode, we explore the many facets of mental health in the law including the importance of celebrating the small wins, maintaining a support network, and advocating for yourself every step of the way.

On this episode of Headstrong we are joined by Professor Amy Salyzyn. Professor Salyzyn received her JSD from Yale Law School and her JD from the University of Toronto. She is an Associate Professor at uOttawa who teaches first year torts, dispute resolution, and an upper year seminar on legal ethics. She is an expert on legal ethics and access to justice. As we explore the intersections between mental health and the law we discuss the developments in access to justice as a subject area, transitioning from public practice to academic work, and how law students can incorporate advocacy into their legal practice.
