Continuing the run of single releases from Paul Oakenfold’s recent Trance Mission album, we present a cover of what is arguably the biggest electronic vocal record of all time “Touch Me”. Originally by Rui Da Silva & Cass Fox and released in the early 00s the new adaptation by Paul Oakenfold took things in a more chilled direction – but still featuring a completely fresh take of vocals from Cassandra Fox. 

“If ever there was a timeless vocal classic to cover it’s “Touch Me” by Rui Da Silva and Cassandra Fox. Originally released in 2001 this was a number 1 hit in numerous countries around the world including the UK top 40. I adore this record. The lyrics and vocals are so perfect that when it came to make the cover version I knew two things had to happen – firstly we had to try and get Cass to re-sing the vocals (part of the rules of making a cover means you can’t use any audio from the original composition – everything needs to be remade or replayed) and secondly I wanted this to be a really stripped back almost chill out track so that the vocals had loads of room to breathe and take center stage. I love how this turned out and I was so excited that Cass got really involved when she came in to re-sing her vocals. It’s a completely fresh, exciting and emotionally charged take on the original record and I love it. “

Emerging in 2012, Leftwing & Kody have become regular fixtures in Beatport’s Top 10, releasing on the likes of Knee Deep In Sound, Hot Creations and MadTech when not on their own Lost Records imprint. Receiving regular support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Nic Fanciulli, Carl Cox, Maya Jane Coles and Hot Since 82, the pair’s studio abilities are irrefutable, making them likely artists for the next release on Steve Lawler’s VIVa, whilst also getting signed to VIVa’s management roster to boot.

First up, ‘Pursuit’ delivers sinister samples, whirring atmospherics and a viscous bassline signature to the Leftwing & Kody sound before ‘What You Do To Me’ employs rattling percussion and offbeat stabs until a lengthy drumroll ignites into an infectious groove. Tying it all together, ‘Keep On’ is a bass focused number complete with a looped vox, echoing effects and a compelling rhythm.

Young Irish-producer Rebūke continues his rapid ascent to the top with two original productions on Hot Creations, primed and ready for the dancefloor.

Rebūke recalls being worried that Along Came Polly may have been perceived as being “a bit too weird”, but once it caught the attention of Jamie Jones, there was no stopping it. He says that the hype surrounding this EP “is something I’ve never experienced before...and it always get a great reaction”.

On Along Came Polly, Rebūke showcases his innate ability to craft a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. On the B-side, Rolo is a much housier affair, weaving together a bouncier bassline and sultry vocal stab.

The alias of Reuben Keeney, Rebūke, has only been in business for a short while, but his efforts have already proved to be fruitful. He has garnered support from the likes of Nic Fanciulli and released on labels including Saved and DFTD, as well as having a successful club night under his belt, where highly regarded names such as Camelphat, Darius Syrossian, Ejeca and Huxley have all played.

The answer is no. Except this brand new imprint right here is aiming to put things a bit into perspective. Bisiesto, meaning leapyear in Spanish will only issue its releases on every 29th of February. You know what that means - one release every four years. Less pollution, less redundancy, essential material that had its time to ripe, plus it's a fun idea, too. Bisiesto is run and curated by Carlo and will emphasize on the physical release on vinyl in limited editions of 366 pieces, hand numbered by the man himself. Bisiesto #1 is due with four jams by the label honcho that showcase his variety in an unprecedented manner.
