Run Tingz Cru & Friends - Knowledge Magazine Spring 2012 Mix

Igniting 2013 with some serious skankology, Bristol’s Run Tingz Cru deliver one of their biggest releases to date… 

With their A&R skills sharpened and set to stun, Run Tingz quickly recognised the Drum & Bass and Jungle potential in Capitol 1212’s iconic ‘Don Man Sound’ and have revisioned it with two of their trademark dancefloor-driven rubs. 

First up, the Run Tingz Jungle remix: No genre complements Tenor Fly’s toasting more than Jungle, and this is verified proof: kicking off with a snatch of snappy beat-driven bars, nothing can prepare you for the dubby skank sonics that lay in wait. Bumping and grinding with energy and perfect pace, it pays respect to Tenor’s emphatic vocals while making the tune totally their own.

Not content with one massive speaker-shattering reversion, Run Tingz have also served up a Dirty remix for the bass heads among us. Opening with icy pads, it’s an instant stepback to the golden age of rave. Then, just as you’ve called up every surviving member of your whistle crew, in comes the wasp-like contemporary bassline, sizzling with 50 shades of menace. As elements old and new fuse with fury, this just keeps on giving. 

Fans of the Capitol 1212 swagger-soaked party joint, originally released in 2010, are also treated to a re-mastered version fresh for the New Year. Rolling on a heavy hip-hop break, the track oozes party flare, gradually building with a well-crafted horn refrain and a lyrical elasticity that conjures memories of Tenor’s trailblazing heritage work with the Freestylers in the late 90s. It’s the ultimate buzz cut fuelled and fronted by one of the most distinctive mic maestros in the game, drop this at any gathering and you’re guaranteed glorious vibes.

Cementing Run Tingz reputation as true Jungle connoisseurs, the South West sound scientists are about to give 2013 a dancefloor schooling. ‘Don Man Sound’ is the ultimate statement of intent. Recognise!

Eject is a highly creative graphic designer/illustrator/graffiti artist and an all round creative force from the North of England – moulded from concrete and steel, he’s part Nintendotm, part fungus, he bleeds Krinktm ink and briefly sleeps on a bed of golden nozzles! After gaining a 1st class honors degree in Graphic Communication at Liverpool JMU in 2009, Eject was cherry picked to work for the internationally adored The Designers Republictm in the steel city of Sheffield. There he honed his own unique, highly versatile style and the ability to design with the sound of a whisper or the strength of a bear… and everything in between. 

Eject has been painting his signature demons since 2003 all around the UK, Europe and some of these big-eyed demons have even been seen watching over the neon lit streets of Tokyo! These signature demons with their long winding necks and inquisitive wide eyes were created in the Ejecto's laboratory to keep a careful but non judgmental watch over the dwellers of our inner city streets. These days the demons control Eject, they have taken over...they are now in charge.

Eject's love for design and graffiti is fuelled by all things creative, typographical, design, art, fashion, graffiti, punk, hiphop, soul and reggae, so it’s little wonder his client list has included names such as Gatecrasher, Warp Records, Universal Records, Josh Osho, Addiction Media, IRN MNKY, Sinoptic Records, Graffiti Kings, Shiva Records, RBK, The Designers Republictm, Autechre, Sheffield Docfest, Pampero Rum, LSK, Liverpool Capital of Culture to name just a few.
