Speaking Minds return to Aeon with their first EP on the label, after a remarkable appearance as remixers on Dodi Palese’s ‘Black Drop Effects’.

This release starts off with ‘JSB’, a captivating and hypnotic affair enhanced by perfectly crafted delayed synths creeping out of the background. The constant darkness in harmonies and pads takes the listener through a brilliantly thought out progression and leaves them wanting for more after this 9-minute trip ends.

‘Yaoundé’ continues on this melancholic vibe, while bringing forward a more cinematic and even more chilling side from the Italian producers’ music. The main ambient lead develops beautifully, alongside many synth harmonies, and offers a contrast with a pushing drum section. This track is reduced to its essence, with crisp shakers and hi-hats bringing a drive to the intense atmosphere created by numerous harmonic layers.

Closing off this EP, ‘Paradise’ features a drunken melody evolving all through the track; a hook that is celverly completed by a pad halfway through. The arrangement, natural and flowing, makes every element of this trip shine, from the discrete chords in the background to the main synth line.

Speaking Minds have truly spoken with their heart here. This is a collection of masterfully crafted tracks full of melancholy and passion. Prepare to be taken aboard this cinematic trip...

The past 4 years have nothing short of the good, the bad, the ugly, and of course, the beautiful. Steyoyoke thanks you, our old and new fans, for the substructure of love and support upon which this label is built. We bring you ultramodern remixes of our liveliest tracks from 2015 on the latest EP, Steyoyoke Anniversary Vol. 04, to celebrate the new year, including remixes by: Philipp Kempnich, Cid Inc, Oliver Schories, MIDAS 104, and Jonas Saalbach.

Philip Kempnich remixes Aaryon and Ran Salman's 'Riptide', fundamentally shifting the patterns of sound consistently to leave you with an ever-pleased, tingly aural sensation. Cid Inc brings us his take on Nick Devon's 'The Poem' featuring Miroir, taking advantage of the earthy bass line through a complimentary arrangement. Oliver Schories faced Soul Button and BLANCAh's 'Rising Silence' turning this track into a twisted fantasy guaranteed to engulf you. MIDAS 104 approaches Animal Picnic's 'Gravity' with a bold confidence evident in the layout of this true anthem of ethereal techno, with a hint of funk! Lastly, but not leastly, Jonas Saalbach remixes Dahu and MPathy's 'Shattered' sticking to the darkness that is, while adding minimalistic elements to make this track simultaneously sink in and pop out in the most unpredictable and astounding ways.

Thank you to all our long-time fans that have loved us from the start, and to our new fans who we welcome with open arms into our family. Julian Wassermann steps up to the SVT plate with an immersive four track effort that showcases his knack for deep tech melodies. A minimal bassline and synths straight from the depths of space lay the groundwork for Alpha, the kickoff into the EP. A subtle yet effective mood-setter, it makes for a great inaugural cut as the release unfolds. Title piece Aurea calmly follows, looming in with tribal infused percussion and lush, effusive vocals. Garnering an equally atmospheric mood, Wassermann aptly combines airy pads and dark synths into an immensely polarizing cut. People Are Strange dives in on a more dynamic note, centered around a solid bassline with alternating synth lines. Swiftly morphing into an energetic banger via punchy bass and ghostly vocal chops, the construction carries major peak time appeal. For the final contribution Imperia, Wassermann calls on the production skills of fellow Muenchener H.B.C. to create a radiant piece of spacious tech. Layering modular strobes and arpeggiated synths, their production styles merge harmoniously, resulting in a dancefloor-ready strapping groove.
