Tel Aviv’s OMRI. remixes Guy Gerber & Albertina’s ‘Bocat’ on Rumors.

Originally released in November 2021, Guy Gerber and Albertina’s ‘Bocat’ saw support on BBC Radio 1 from Pete Tong and Danny Howard, with the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Ame and many more spinning the record in clubs all over.

Following appearances on Disco Halal, Mobilee Records, and more, OMRI. now arrives on Guy Gerber’s Rumors imprint with his interpretation of ‘Bocat’. Injecting a solid groove to the track, OMRI. brings skippy hats, pounding kick drums and heavy low end underneath Albertina’s vocals and other select elements of the original to craft a new vibe perfectly curated to move dancefloors worldwide.

Founded in 2014, Guy Gerber’s Rumors has played host to Dixon, Seth Troxler, P Diddy, and beyond, amassing a vast fanbase since the early clandestine beach parties on the White Island.

Juan caught our attention from the very first listen, so it was this kind of easy signing' while listening the demo again and again. Putting his fingers on the Original, label head Marc DePulse gave this track his fingerprint. Serbian talent Veljko Jovic has impressed with his releases on the likes of I AM DIFFERENT, Lowbit, Area Verde and Multi Notes, scoring a Top 10 on Beatport in the process with his brooding sounds. His latest effort ‘Paris’ blends elements of electro, Italo, techno and synth pop into one heady, slow-building mix.
A monotone bassline chug probes at huge snare hits and rigid woodblock hits as the track builds, with pulses of synth energy punctuating the groove. Snarling, dark textures rise slowly from the depths, building a foundation of moody energy. Atonal, filtered stabs bring the techno flavour, juxtaposing against a dainty synth line right out of the Yazoo / early ‘80s textbook. The intensity builds towards the dramatic breakdown, where suddenly a rousing riff is introduced playing pleasing fifths. A spoken French vocal delays around the stereo field dizzyingly, and a taut breakbeat rhythm satisfyingly cuts into the mix with no warning. The track continues to flex and shapeshift, providing a delightful interplay between its myriad elements to create a truly wondrous sound.
