Day 3 - Battle With ?

This is probably the most involved composition that Ive done so far. Its not done yet. Not to the point that I feel totally convinced but so far I like the direction of it.

For me I wanted to set the an emotional tone at a pivotal point where the hero is reminded of why he fights and it builds from there. I wanted to go for something that was Megaman esque in its nature. Not sure if I nailed it but would love to revisit.

Maybe Im still salty from the Blue Shell. Im also not sure how or why I came to this idea. But it could be that I'm tired. But it was honestly alot of fun.

Written for day five of the July #7daysofVGM Challenge! This month the prompts are game sounds and today it was the start race sound from Mario Cart. Enjoy!

Can't Start, Won't Start

There isn't too much to say other than I love how this piece came out. I think juxtaposing it with yesterday's is a good example of how to make repetition work in certain contexts, how important it is to have a B, etc. This also really sounds like it would work well with my other piece, Crystalline Structures

That said, on its own I think this is one of the prettier pieces I've made. I think I drew some subconscious inspiration from Joe Hisaishi's soundtrack to My Neighbor Totoro for the B section here, so credit where credit may be due there.

Heart Strings

Today's prompt challenged us to create a piece by starting with a drum loop. My DAW comes loaded with a little over a hundred loops so I took it a step further and used a random number generator to pick my loop for me.

The moment I heard it I started thinking about FF VII's theme for The Turks, a smooth, cool, jazzy track. Combined with with some dissonant, messy chords, I created something similarly smooth, but much more jazzy and shady I feel. Please enjoy Back Alley Business!

This is my new favorite Pump Up song I've ever made. Mario Tennis' soundtrack by Motoi Sakuraba has always been influential to me and I really tried to channel him with this piece. While it's nowhere new his level, good lord does this pump me up! Please enjoy Love All, First Serve!

With the #21DaysofVGM now becoming the #7DaysofVGM, here's my first submission for the week! We set sail on our small boat, starting slow from the shore but quickly the warm sun beats down, the waves crash against the hull, and the birds glide above. But in the ocean, not all is calm... there are dangers to be found on the water, and if you're lucky to come through the other side you can call yourself a true sailor. Please enjoy Set Sail!
