Jason, El Artso, Rosales is an artist and producer from the DMV area. He grew up in Southern Maryland, and studies Audio Production at the Art Institute of Washington in Northern, Virginia. El Artso has always had a passion for music. His family, especially his mother, is an accomplished musician and composer who taught El Artso and his brother how to play the piano and instilled a love of music at a young age. The name “El Artso” was created by Jason and his brother; it means to teach with art and derives from hooked on phonics, Artsophonics. When producing music, El Artso describes his music as experimental hip-hop. His lyrics are aggressive with a message about his life and experiences. El Artso’s influences include Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Hop-Sin, Massive Attack, and Mike Shinoda.
