Everyone seems to speak with reverence here and perhaps Jackie did not consider themselves as transgender

I Got Mine: the Story of Jackie Shane

Raised by an outspoken, lesbian, feminist mother who started Olympia, Washington’s first women’s health clinic, my sisters and I grew up in a busy house filled with stories of confrontations with dominant culture. With charisma and charm, my courageous and visionary mother taught us to follow our hearts, question authority, fight for the underdog, laugh loudly and basically raise hell. This is my first step in trying to document the life story of Pat Shively through recorded oral histories with her friends and family. I feel the need to pay tribute to my mother, (who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2000) whose radical life and raucous stories have allowed me to become who I am today.

Tennessee Twin is Cindy Wolfe's country band based in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. "We Don't Talk About It" is track 4 on Tennessee Twin's second album Don't Peak Too Soon, which was recorded in 2004-2005. Her first album was released on Mint Records, but Don't Peak Too Soon is self-released (or yet-to-be officially released).
