"Slave To Society (ex AnD) returns to Natural Selection with a white-hot experimental techno EP, accompanied by an IDM-infused remix from industrial electronica duo; Somatic Responses.

After a decade of redefining techno dance floors as AnD, Andrew Bowen returned to his experimental, hardware-focussed roots as Slave To Society in October 2019. 
Since then he has seen his music released by highly revered institutions in the world of hard techno, noise, breakcore, IDM and industrial electronica, such as PRSPCT, Pure Hate, Ohm Resistance and BANK Records NYC. 
Following on from his remix of Kamikaze Space Programme’s ‘Dust To Dust’, released on Natural Selection in 2022, Slave To Society releases his first full EP for the London based imprint. 
‘Ai Invasion’ releases in April and takes up the torch from Versalife and Rommek, whose prior releases via Natural Selection saw support from the likes of Dave Clarke, Tommy Four Seven, Takaaki Itoh, The Advent, Annie Hall, Alienata and more.

‘Ai Invasion’ is a sonic exploration of the symbiotic relationship between humanity and technology. 
Slave To Society uses carefully designed futuristic soundscapes and atmospheric textures, layered with AI generated vocals, combined with heavy and fiercely unpredictable drum elements. 
Expect advanced, experimental hard techno and noise, fused with powerful low-end muscle, raging hi-hats, fragmented percussion and augmented amens. 
In true Slave To Society fashion, all rules and boundaries are smashed to pieces and all tracks are equally suitable for blasting through the world’s biggest club systems and rigs as they are for home listening.

“There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of our sun, we will not survive forever.”
Change is constant, collapse inevitable. With ‘Inevitable Collapse’ new project FAR rejects templates and dancefloor patterns, turning in four works of spontaneous techno contemplations. On the A-side “Hypocrite” opens with billowy, retroactive synths, weaved into some desolate sci-fi landscape. “Ignite” then wields hand drums and sparse electronic meditations akin to early Shackleton-meets-Aphex Twin through a Polygon Window. “Carrier” on the B-side is as chugging techno as it gets, albeit haunted by a deconstructive FAR presence. Finally “Smash The Walls” concludes in rolling waves of unpredictable surf. Recorded in long single takes and produced with solicitous mix-downs, ‘Inevitable Collapse’ is an intriguing debut for those more peripherally inclined.

Cute Heels is the solo project of Victor Lenis, a contemporary artist living in Barcelona, Spain. He grew up in Bogotá, Columbia during the 1990s, surrounded by the radial punk scene. Over the years, Victor's passion and fascination for synthesizers and drum machines to produce and compose resulted in various digital-only releases as well as his debut album “Spiritual" for Dark Entries in 2014.  Cute Heels has been called ''the new blood and spirit for the next step in techno music'' by Electro/Techno pioneer Juan Atkins. 

“Third Skin” is a 4-track EP that connects the dots between Detroit techno, early Chicago house and Belgium electronic body music. Inspired by equal parts Liaisons Dangereuses, Drexciya and Black Devil Disco Club. On the A-side are two fresh compositions recorded in 2015. “Third Skin” kicks things in a metallic EBM funk with a pounding bottom end. “Lipstick Information” takes the listener on a dark, psychedelic and twisted journey through thrillingly intense arpeggiations. On the flip we present two remixes. The first is from Steffi, House and Techno DJ and producer born in The Netherlands and residing in Berlin. She picks up the pace for an uplifting, percussion-driven, DAF-eque dystopian stomper. The second remix comes from Michel Amato aka The Hacker, French born DJ and producer and frequent collaborator with Miss Kittin. His early musical influences of bands such as Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle and Front 242 shine through on this pumping and sophisticated remix ready for any dance floor. 

All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley.  The record comes in a custom-made jacket designed by Eloise Leigh featuring a photograph by Corinne Schiavone printed with hi-gloss finish. Each copy includes a postcard with with notes and image for fetish lovers.

Japanese artist Maiko Okimoto aka Lemna returns to Horo following her acclaimed EP for the SNTS helmed label ‘Sacred Court’. Retrocausality is 2 EP’s that continue her genre-less approach to electronic music. Aligned most closely to the Grey Area sound that Sam KDC and ASC have been expanding on in recent years, Maiko’s approach is singular. The reality of her music working on dance-floors for Techno audiences is a happily incidental result and not a structural design. Maiko’s music comes entirely from an innate feeling transferred into grooves and ethereal ambience.

Retrocausality works with the concept of the crossover between the spirit world and science - for example, the commonality of thoughts and theories in Buddhist philosophy and Quantum Physics. The realms of these are divided, but essentially the concepts are similar.

The EP’s title ‘Retrocausality’ implies that we can perceive this world from both in terms of ‘A Priori’ (from cause) and ‘A Posteriori’ (from result).

The tracks on Retrocausality represent an accurate cross section of Maiko’s musical style, from the other worldly ambience of Supervoid to the rhythmic winding of Thusness and the heads down floor tunnel of Sattva.

At a time when electronic music is becoming less adventurous as a whole, Lemna represents a beacon of intrigue.

Falling Ethics Records is branching out with it's brand new sub-division ''Moral Standards''. The first release in the new series is a 4-tracker by label owner P.E.A.R.L.

On the A-side we find No Fall Damage Part 1 & 2. The first part is on the emotive side, combining the drumwork P.E.A.R.L is known for with an extended synth line that provides a minor melancholic touch. On the second part, things are turned up a notch, with increased emphasis on percussion elements and vocal chops. A nervous sounding short synth-line creeps in that helps build the strong ambience of this version.

On the B-side, Matrixxman and Blue Hour provide remixes for ''We Will Not All Fall''.

For the B1, the Matrixxman remix is a mechanic and big sounds sounding piece of work using a sub-low bass that's reminiscent of early dubstep records. The Blue Hour remix is a break beat and trance infused cut using a taint of acid to lift the whole to a dancefloor oriented piece of work.

Since opening, FOLD has become a prime destination for a marathon dance, given its 24-hour license, safe space policy and forward-thinking curation. They recently announced the launch of their new in-house label, a further extension of the sound and aesthetics they have become so loved for. Their first EP is from resident, Gareth Wild.

Finding his formative education in the 90’s rave scene, Gareth's ears became attuned to a particular repertoire of dancefloor sounds from Jungle through to Techno. This has in-turn matched well with the FOLD family. His forthcoming release via the new label, titled 'Common Assault' EP, feels reflective of the dancefloor energy of 'UnFOLD'; an event organised in-house by FOLD, where the decks are positioned at the center of the dancefloor allowing for maximum connection between DJ's and dancers. 

Raucous, unrelenting yet equally enchanting, title track 'Common Assault' embodies the raw energy of 'UnFOLD'. The pounding 4x4 is carried in swirling currents, the dissonance as much claustrophobic as it is infectious to the waist-line. A track that could easily be mistaken as terrifying, 'Common Assault' is in fact a perfect example of effective, multi-layered techno. Rigorous, yet warm, assured to sweep you away in its wake.
