For the next edition of the Transmissions mix series, it's a great pleasure to share a barnstorming session from DJ TOOL. Over 2.5 hrs, we have him doing what he does best, closing things out in the early hours to a packed room. A set full of psychedelic power, a set for the ages, records mixed with laser precision which shaped the room, the system and the moment.

This set was recorded by FOLD, mastered by Lisene at Area 52 and mixed by DJ TOOL.

From the Morevi Records night at Horoom on June 13th comes this next instalment in the series. In a little over a decade, Separat has proved his mettle behind decks in his hometown Aachen, current base Cologne and other places like Gewölbe, Tresor or Openground. His sound has been instrumental in the local scene, a true underground talent and one of the heads behind Brandwerk. His press presence is fairly light, and a keen focus on his sound the most critical part of his work: groovy, immersive and playful. Fun through and through, with tones and charging rhythms which are designed for dancing the night away.  Welcome to the Transmissions mix series, featuring sets recorded at our parties at FOLD. 

For our opening mix, we’re delighted to share a recent Steam Room session with the Bangkok-based selector and producer Sunju Hargun. 

For two hours, he delivered a masterclass of immersive, deep and psychedelic techno. And true to style, the set is a seamless flow of intricate rhythms and subtly shifting textures, shadowy grooves and pulsating basslines.  

This mix was mastered in the Area52 Studio.

Transmission 001: Sunju Hargun

Dub Inversion is a personal take on Dub music by Andrea Deplano, working under his two aliases: L-3P and Ness. Both identities meet here in a conversation across tempos and textures, where Dub’s deep-rooted essence is reimagined through minimalistic structures and spatial experimentation.

From high energy rhythms to slower, more spacious grooves, the release explores delay, reverb, and repetition with a raw yet refined approach. This is not a nostalgic homage, Dub Inversion is a transformation. A split self reuniting through bass, space, and pulse.

A fellow member of the Electronic Convergence collective, DJK consistently delivers excellent techno mixes with insanely long tracklists due to his fast-paced mixing style on his trusty 1210 turntables and his distinctive rotary mixer.

Kelvin is a member of the Hastings Techno Militia and resident of Catchmydrift? bringing the likes of Ben Sims and Detroit Techno Militia to Hastings. He recently played at the BangTech festival in Detroit along with some of Detroit's finest.

TECHNO TO THE MASSES - PODCAST 01 WITH SERGEY TIMOSHOV

Cio D’Or hardly requires an introduction, having long stood as both a pillar of our scene and a source of inspiration for so many. Over the course of her singular and decades-spanning career, the Cologne-based artist has cultivated a universe of sound entirely her own, immediately recognizable yet endlessly evolving much like the work of her contemporaries and collaborators Mike Parker and Donato Dozzy. To experience Cio’s music is to follow a throughline that traces the complex history of contemporary techno in a single gesture, compelled by the vast unknown and the primordial familiar in equal measure. Recalling the blurred realism of Richter’s photo-paintings or the timeless intricacy of Bach’s fugues, Cio’s self-contained sonic world delicately reframes our own precious lifecycle, a reflection revealed through its elegant and subtractive minimalism.

In collaboration with our friends at Mostra, I’m honored to share a selection from Cio D’Or’s set performed at this year’s edition of the Barcelona-based festival, a sublime triumph from a scholar of sound.

Will & Ink - Fermat, Will & Ink's debut release coming soon on Will & Ink / Delsin

Delsin is proud to announce that we are working with Will & Ink, a new label and production duo of the same name. Well, they aren’t really new, because individually Will & Ink are Dutchmen with many musical projects to their names. 

This new project, however, is something different. When Will & Ink got together for the first time they had a gut feeling that they could add something new to the techno world. This is why their raw and pounding sound is brought to life through custom-built hardware, which you can see in action during their unique live sets. 

Now those first tracks get an official release in the form of this three track Fermat EP. The opening track, First Fermat is a well swung, cantering techno groove with swinging hi hats and the sandiest of hits peeling off the top. The percussion and metallic rattles sound like nothing else and all in all it’s one of the most infectious warehouse styled tracks you are likely to hear. 

Second Fermat recalls the releases of Fachwerk and is built on the same bubbly, grip-y drums and clattering rhythm sections, but this time a dark, filtered vocal lurks in the middle to add an element of intensity and paranoia amongst the spangled synths.

Finally, Third Fermat is a little more stripped back. The textures are still sandy and rough edged, the beats still seem to lean into a stiff wind but here the hook is a frazzled, blistered little synth which tears up the middle of the track, hypnotising as it goes. This EP marks quite the debut for a pair that has many more special techno treats up their sleeves for the coming months, both in the studio and live arena.
