Unsere Nr. 240 kommt heute von einem Berliner Künstler, welchen ich seit ungefähr zwei Jahren verfolge. Sein Sound ist zum einen träumerisch und melodisch, aber auch druckvoll und deep zugleich. Die goldene Mitte zu finden gelingt ihm dabei immer.

Die Rede ist von Francesco Rizzi der mit seinem groovigen, melodischen und hypnotischen Sound im Gewand des Downtempos immer wieder für eine Überraschung gut ist. Dazu aber später mehr. Zudem ist er Teils des aufstrebenden Berliner Kollektivs ‚Pandora‘ (https://soundcloud.com/pandora-crew-official) und der Karlsruher Bande von ‚Kollektiv Liebe‘ (https://soundcloud.com/kollektiv-liebe).

Sein für uns aufgenommenes Set hat mich anfangs tatsächlich vollkommen überrascht. Neben vielen dezent verspielten und teils verschickten Elementen macht er von Anfang an klar, wohin die Reise geht. Nämlich in die Zeit des Sonnenaufgangs. Die Klänge sind federleicht, fast schon hypnotisch, als ob die ersten Sonnenstrahlen auf dem Gesicht tanzen und doch zugleich bestimmend und subversiv drückend. Generell ist der Anfang des Podcasts phänomenal. Hier treffen nämlich hypnotische und groovige Soundelemente aufeinander und verbinden sich mit cineastischen Melodien zu einem extraterrestrischen Erlebnis. Im weiteren Verlauf eröffnet er dem Hörer sein eingangs beschriebenes Soundverständnis und wechselt konsistent zwischen Spannung und Entspannung ab. Trotz des leicht erhöhten, aber immer noch stark reduzierten Tempi grooven die Tracks weiterhin und entfalten erst so eine tiefenerweiternde Wirkung. Hier ein Clap, da eine verschrobene Acidline, da eine Melodie….ja das passt. Und dies über 149 Minuten. Definitiv eine Klasse Interpretation seiner Afterhour.

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour ist. Keine Phrase, keine Fake-News, sondern ehrliche Worte eines musikverliebten Spessarters.

Ich danke dir vielmals Francesco für dieses besondere Set. Umwerfend tiefenergreifend und erfrischend gut. Chapeu.

Anbei noch seine Stellungnahme zu unseren Fragen:

Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus?
Wenn der Gute-Laune-Train einmal ins rollen gekommen ist steht der guten Afterhour so wieso nichts mehr im Wege. Tschu, Tschu,.. und
mindestens genauso wichtig ist es natuerlich wo und wem du dich Gemeinsam auf diese Reise begibst, gerne mit neuen, als auch alten
Bekanntschaften und am besten eine ausgewogene Mischung! :)

 Welche Gedanken magst du uns zu deinem Mix mit auf den Weg geben?
Aspetta e vedrai! Was soviel heißt wie: warte ab und du wirst sehen!
Wenn du nicht gerade auf einer Afterhour am ab Steppen bist, hoere dir das Set doch gerne beim naechtlichen Spaziergang an. Das tue ich
zumindest sehr gerne, das holt mich meistens nochmal ganz anders ab. :)

Last night I had a piece of foreign matter in my foot that prevented me from sleeping. That was the reason why I sat down in the studio and played some music while I waited for the emergency doctors to open. Luckily I pressed the record button. Would have been a shame if I hadn't. And yeah, the foot is better again.

Berlin Neukölln has become his new home. Within it’s walls soon darker, powerful downtempo called him into it. Now, he digs and find them, the groovy melodies, fat basslines, and dirty beats, for you, for us…. To move, to create, to bask in our own and the glitter of that midnight sunshine.

Our good friend @diladimusic from Berlin contributed the next podcast to our series. After she has often convinced us in a smaller circle with her smooth sets, we are all the more pleased to be able to give her a platform for her sound on our channel now.

We think she has a good feeling for the right mix between dark grooves and driving elements, which gives her sets a great personal touch, which can easily be recognized. We wish you lots of fun with the next 90 minutes of downtempo music.

hey guys, this is the opening set i played on this beautiful & sunny "backyard" floor on sunday at the lovely "wonderland" festival, somewhere in the hills in the middle of germany :) 
for your sunday buffet, i offered a some delicious tunes somewhere between 103 to 117 bpm.
thx to all the beautiful souls dancing barefoot in the sand under the hot sun, or chillin in the shadows. i met more friends, then i expected which i really enjoyed <3

Today we want to present you our fourteensth Mystic Cast. This time the one and only https://soundcloud.com/janoma was so kind to record one hour of beautiful music for us.

Janoma already enchanted us several times with his touching sound at our Mystic Creatures events. In this context, we definitely won't forget the first closing at the new theater floor at Mensch Meier this spring. It felt like flying through heaven to the sounds of Janoma together with his buddy Doob. Be ready for some heartwarming electronic music for your body, mind and soul..

Das letzte Open Air

Das Wetter könnte nicht besser sein. Strahlender Sonnenschein auf einen blassblauen Himmel und das Ende Oktober. Wir leben in verrückten Zeiten, doch dass hat auch sein gutes. Ziemlich spontan haben wir uns dazu entschlossen ein kleines Open Air zu veranstalten. Wieder einmal an der legendären Brücke unter den Bahngleisen am Flussufer. Innerhalb weniger Tage wurde alles Notwendige organisiert und zusammengetragen. Eine Anlage und Licht wurden gemietet, Werbung über die entsprechenden Kanäle gemacht und ein der Kühlwagen mit Getränken aufgefüllt und bereitgestellt. Gegen 15:00 Uhr begann der Rave. Im schwindenden Sonnenschein wurden feinster Downtempo & Slow House zum besten gegeben. Anschließend folgte eine Melodic Techno Einlage. Währenddessen füllte sich der Platz mit immer mehr glücklichen und ausgelassen feiernden Menschen. Die Musik wurde der Uhrzeit und der hereinbrechenden Nacht entsprechend angepasst. Die Stimmung blieb gut, erst als die Polizei kam und der Bass herunter gedreht werden musste, kam das gesamte feuchtfröhliche Treiben ein wenig ins Stocken. 
Doch trotzdem ließen wir uns unseren Spaß nicht nehmen und genossen Kollektiv das letzte Open Air für dieses Jahr. 

Der Podcast von Kiki Kokolores erinnert an eine Jungle Expedition. Ein Großteil der Instrumente klingt außerordentlich organisch und die verwendeten FX lockern die Struktur zusätzlich auf. Über eine Laufzeit von 86 Minuten morpht ein Track in den anderen über. Diese Übergange sind zwar hörbar doch wirken so integral zugehörig, dass sich alles anfühlt wie ein ausgedehntes Musikstück.

There is a certain light, that comes with the first snow. Subduing and dimming the sun, it makes the things closer to you stand out with a poignant clarity. In that whiteness, colors find a new context, almost a new meaning. There is also a certain sound, or rather a quality of sound, that envelopes the crow’s song as well as the car speeding in the invisible distance, placing them next to each other, while keeping them forever apart.
Have you ever listened to the snow falling from heavy, flocculent clouds? It’s a soft, incessant tingling at the edge of your hearing, that plays atop your crunching footsteps and the occasional brittle twig breaking underfoot. Now, if you take off your mittens and extend your palm to face the cloudy sky - can you feel the tiny crystals from the heavens turn to water where the world ends and you seem to begin? And if raise your gaze from this miraculous, pinkish-beige transformer, do you see that glow coming through the trees, promising softness and warmth and a place to calm down and cuddle up?

I’ve always experienced electronic music and especially the Downtempo scene behind it as an opportunity to enjoy a safe space while dancing and to meet likeminded people, allowing me to forget about the everyday hassle and to get lost in the night or day. 
So, when COVID hit the breaks on being a passionate dancer on these occasions, I felt the need to at least keep the sound and spirit in my life, which finally put me behind the decks. What I didn’t expect was how much I would love to play these uplifting, harmonic and at times darker tunes with a deep baseline and how many opportunities it would open up for new input and exchange with other music-lovers.
Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined to be invited to Jordan and to be able to share my favorite tunes in a country, I’ve wanted to visit for a long time
