Biography:
H880 is a discreet and masked producer. He holds a vision, apart, from the music itself defining the world around it. His goal is to lead the listener into a dark and industrial world in order to tell his story, his past, his future. Independent for a long time, H880 forms his identity through some releases that have upset the industrial sphere such as « Kepler », "Surrealism" and "Act IV" Since many months, H880 is on a project which is close to his heart; to be able to propose a live performance composed entirely with his sounds. It’s in 2018 that H880 proposes his Live act in France, in Europe and soon in the World. Realizing an EP for Green Fetish Records, Australian famous label, H880 demonstrates his interest in wanting to sign on big labels to extend his waves. The launch of HĒTA, his own label is scheduled for 2018. You’re warned!

Jazz-O-Tech introduces Black Gardenia Vol.1 composed by Berlin-based duo BEAT MOVEMENT.

The duo presents an unusual, psychedelic and moving techno jazz EP in collaboration with techno pioneer Sunil Sharpe, Italian saxophonist and composer Gianni Mimmo and the jazz quartet Gamapawa.

Black Gardenia is a mesmerizing aesthetic sound experience, taking the listener on abstract journeys and into cinematic sceneries. The title track "Silent Rain" opens the A-side with a soft and emotional fusion of drones and saxophone, followed by the sovereign and psychedelic slow groove of the track "Aphex Twin shot my neck". The B-side is a dancefloor killer combination between Sunil Sharpe's intelligent techno remix of “Silent Rain” and Gamapawa's featuring track "Untitled Reconstruction", where drums and saxophone reach the speed of 150 bpm.

Black Gardenia will be distributed worldwide in 300 limited edition copies.

Alessandro Adriani is a lot of things – DJ, producer, live performer and label owner – but above all, he is a tireless music researcher. The Berlin-based Italian goes further than your average “crate digger” in pursuit of information about sounds, styles, artists and record labels, devoting countless hours to unearthing the untold stories behind the music he loves, regardless of when it was made.

Adriani’s obsession has naturally shaped his other musical endeavours, not least Mannequin Records, the label he established a decade ago. Over the years, the imprint has won praise from buyers and critics alike for its open-minded blend of on-point reissues, archival collections and fresh productions. The intriguing, leftfield mixture of material on offer – think cold wave, industrial, EBM, minimal synth, skewed electro and more – is naturally a reflection of Adriani’s wide-ranging and off-kilter tastes (as you’d discover if you had a quick flick through his vast and growing record collection).

Adriani is distinctively drawn towards the dark and obscure, and you can hear this approach amongst the long, drawn-out mixes of his similarly eclectic DJ sets. Like others who came of age in Rome during the city’s techno boom of the mid 1990s, he often instinctively draws for pitch-black techno and wild acid tracks alongside EBM, industrial and cold wave cuts. It’s this blend you’ll find Adriani exploring during his bi-monthly dates at Berghain and Panorama Bar, a residency he’s held since early 2016.

“Inhabited Shadows” is the new album by pioneering, Berlin-based techno artist Headless Horseman. This is his most daring and emotional release to date: the culmination of live performance, studio experimentation, and global exploration.

A total sonic experience, “Inhabited Shadows” takes listeners on a deeply personal journey through Headless Horseman’s creative brain. Dark industrial synths and broken beats form the spinal cord. A spirit of lightness and compassion guides the way forward.

From its opening, the album sets hard edges and metallic surfaces against dense and delicate textures. A-tonal figures and percussive attacks merge with melodic flights and soulful rhythms. Classical counterpoint and cinematic soundscapes conspire together. The result is discordant joy.

Headless Horseman’s vitality comes from his determination to remain open and vulnerable as an artist. “Inhabited Shadows”, recorded over eight months in 2019, reflects a period of intensive growth. Each of its nine tracks ventures into uncharted territory, embracing many moods, changing climates, old ghosts, and new risks.

“Over years of trials and tribulations, music has been the antidote”, says Headless Horseman. “I’ve learned to live in shadows and darkness. Now I’m chipping off pieces of my shell and portraying directly how I feel without compromise. I still inhabit shadows, but I can move back and forth between darkness and light.”
