Another one from the vaults, what a brilliant club, loved the way the DJs kept the tempo to a tuff slow groove until it was well under way. I only managed to blag my way in a few times but that`s the way it seemed to me. It actually really worked for the tunes they picked and this tape is a nice reminder. I did my best with the sound quality but it is an 18 year old copy of a copy! The 2nd tune in on the B-side [S+S Conflicts] is such a wow! tune for me, proper time machine track that one! Beauuutifulll!!

Fixing Fences is the first single for Elbi Lewes' album "Manmade." set to be released in March of 2025. The track was recorded in Lewes, Delaware, and graced by the engineering and mastering genius of Margeaux McCaughey and Mike Burris. Fixing Fences highlights the lyrical focus of Lewes' music with its allusion to the metaphor of the white picket fences and escaping one's hometown with Elbi Lewes' signature mandolin playing.

Through my architecture studies, I noticed a pattern of natural consequences due to manmade alterations. A close friend of mine often talks about playing god, and how ultimately, in the end, it bites him in the butt. Many moments like these lead me to think about the role we play in being the cause of our own problems. Whether it is conscious or not, the outcome of my decisions rooted in desire rather than acceptance has always gotten in the way of being present. And it seems counterintuitive, that’s why it’s manmade — because it is everything I will never be (as a woman) unless I take that matter into my own hands, which is the antithesis to everything I just said. This song is the title track because it emphasizes all the contradictions I have ever come face to face with. Welcome to the manmade in-between.
