I remember this song from the Djunglebook. The girl is singing it, by the river, and Mowgli is watching her from behind a tree or something. Great singing Eleanor!

I've been wanting to write a song about childhood for a while now. My two boys provide plenty of material, their own secret worlds are just mesmerising. This song is inspired by my boys, Eleanor and that recording. Hope you like

A traditional "riddle" folk song I seem to have been singing in idle moments all my life, especially to my daughter in the bath. I can't remember who taught it to me now. I was stuck on a Ukulele song I have been working on and decided to put it aside for a few days and try something I hadn't written: more as a means of stepping away from lyric and melody writing for a bit. It is a little thrown together in the end and I am far from pleased with the recorder or mandolin parts.. but I don't want to work on it anymore! I hope it is enjoyable for what it is though.

Incidentally, cubase stared crashing as I finished and began saving different versions all over the place. I am not sure therefore which version is here or if the crackles I heard in my headphones will translate onto this MP3. I hope it is "clean"! :)

In the terrifically exciting book I've just written - The Badger-Boy Brouhaha - there is a pompous, ludicrous, singing knight called Sir Terry. Look, there he is, in that picture just there. You can tell what a numpty he is, can't you? 
Anyway, in the book, at the peak of his singing career, he is confronted with a creative crisis when he has his songwriter beheaded. To deal with the problem, he has a crack at writing a song on his own. This is the result. I've been having a bit of fun writing and recording some music over the last few days and I got a bit carried away with this one. The band is made up of flute, clarinet, alto sax and bass clarinet. It's a combo that seems to work quite well for me, lots of colours on the palette to work with. Don't ask me what key it's in, it's mostly constructed with augmented harmony around the note of Eb concert.
