Violence against women remains as topic of ‘taboo’, due to the connotations associated with the issue and society continually failing to face and acknowledge the hidden dark side of humanity. 

For example intimate partner violence is the most common type of violence against women, affecting 30 per cent of women worldwide, according to the 2013 World Health Organization report Global and regional estimates of violence against women: Prevalence and health effects of intimate partner violence and non-partner sexual violence. 

The issue of violence against women is a serious problem, and affecting women worldwide.  In Australia alone: where:
•	Over 12 months, on average, one woman is killed every week as a result of intimate partner violence.
•	A woman is most likely to be killed by her male partner in her home.
•	Domestic and family violence is the principle cause of homelessness for women and their children.
•	Intimate partner violence is the leading contributor to death, disability and ill health in Australian women aged 15-44.
•	One in three women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence perpetrated by someone known to them.
•	One in four children are exposed to domestic violence, which is a recognized form of child abuse.
•	The cost of violence against women to the Australian economy is estimated to rise to $15.6 billion per annum.
•	One in five women experience harassment within the workplace.
•	One in five women over 18 have been stalked during her lifetime. 

Undeniably Australians are yet to realize the significance of violence against women and the drastic repercussions of such heinous acts.  Thus, the production of this documentary will not only reinforce, but also reinstate the importance of creating a better future for women worldwide.

14 people have been rescued from a broken-down rollercoaster on the Gold Coast this afternoon after being trapped for up to three hours.

Emergency crews were called to Warner Bros Movie World, just before 1pm (AEST) today, after the Green Lantern rollercoaster suffered from a mechanical issue involving two separate carts.
 
Reaching speeds of up to 66 km/hour and measuring 33 meters at its highest point, the ride came to a sudden halt.

The park referred to the malfunction as “an issue with a wheel”.

One witness, who was just about to join the ride’s queue, described the incident as her “worst fear come to life”.

Warner Bros Movie world said a team of engineers and technicians will assess the ride once all guests are freed.

Police will be taking the advice of a number of experts on the subject at a conference in Melbourne over the coming days.

Deputy Commissioner Graham Ashton says although he believes the current system is working well, there is always room for improvement.

AT least 50 people have been killed after a tour bus plummeted of a cliff in southern Brazil.

The death toll continues to rise as rescuers continue to find bodies at the crash site in Santa Catarina state.

The tour bus plunged 400 meters into a ravine filled with thick vegetation.

Fifty people were supposed to be on the bus, but authorities believed the number of passengers was much higher.

The crash site was near a lookout point in the Dona Francisca Mountains, a popular stop for tourists.

Witnesses believe the driver lost control on the curvy stretch of highway, but the cause is still under investigation.
